June 16-18 are officially confirmed as the 2006 dates on the official site.
Even better, the max capacity has been reducedby 10,000 to the '03 level (I believe this means 90,000?) which for me is the best news they could possibly announce. I'm not sure what the official attendence was in '05 (I know they didn't sell out), and thought the crowds were generally manageable, but the 100,000+ crowd in '04 was definitely way too much, and took away a bit from the overall experience. This will probably mean fewer artists than the last two years, but as I have said before I have no problem with this since one person will typically only see 25-50% of the bands in a given year anyway.
This announcement (and the Radiohead rumors) managed to get my Bonnaroo excitement level back up to typical levels. I was a little worried that since I'm becoming an old man (I'll be 30 at Bonnaroo '06 ) and this will be my fifth year, my excitement would start to taper off at some point, but a return to the '03 crowd size has really got me anticipating the artist announcement again.

Last year i believe the attendance was only in the 70k's, i could be mistaken though. I thought this was a good sized crowd though, and am happy theyr keeping it that size.
I guess if attendence was only in the 70k's last year than the reduced capacity is sort of non-news (if you assume the attendence trend will continue). I would also say that number pretty much jives with my perception of relative crowd size over the years. If the attendence remains around that level than the reduced capacity probably translates to: "the number of bands is being reduced to 2003 levels". As I said above I have no problem with that as long as they maintain the amazing standard of quality and diversity that they have established for the band lineup. Of course a blockbuster band announcement could have a big impact on the number of tickets they sell, and a reduced capacity could end up being meaningful.
I read an article yesterday (it was from last summer) where ACC Entertainment stated that 05 attendance was around 77,000. Dropping the attendance to 03 levels would cap it at 80,000 I believe.
