It seems like last year some of the same bands played at both festivals - like they were doing a promotional tour by playing at festivals. In 2006 Atmosphere, Cat Power, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Common, Damien Marley, My Morning Jacket, Amadou & Miriam, Be Your Own Pet, Seu Jorge, Matisyahu played both festivals - so that is 11 bands (but I could have missed one or two)
In 2005 DJ Krush, but not too much else, so lets make this a recent trend.
Anyways, back to the original question, I definitely think that some of the bands playing Coachella will be playing at the Roo this year, maybe not 11 but at least 6 to 10 (in making this list I realized that 3-4 were already confirmed). My candidates would be:
Arcade Fire (Might be just my hope but seems right) Rodrigo y Gabriella ("international" band like Seu Jorge/Amadou) Brazillian Girls (played Roo before) DJ Shadow (played Roo before) Black Keys (played Roo before) Girl Talk (is playing Langerado as well) Of Montreal (seems like they would fit right in) Konono #1 (another "international" band like Seu Jorge/Amadou) Kings of Leon (confirmed already) Fountains of Wayne (confirmed I think) Comedians of Comedy (Pretty much already confirmed) Lily Allen (sort of confirmed)
My bad on Kings of Leon. I dont want to be the spreader of misinformation, but I could not read through the entire confirmed thread (damn thing is 22 pages) and I thought that they said they were playing.
I am actually surprised that Coachella is not getting The Hold Steady or Cold War Kids (at least not so far).
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
I wish. The problem with Manu Chao playing Bonnaroo is this: he's a headliner level star on the world level. Playing lolla, coachella or even acl make sense because of their geographic locations and high hispanic populations. But given Bonnaroo's demographic, I doubt Manu Chao would draw a big enough crowd to make it worth Superfly's while.
Kings of Leon wont headline Bonnaroo definatly tent or maybe the Which stage.
If I could find the link to the interview I'd up it, but it sounded more like they were approached to play an early day slot on the main stage (ala the Codetalkers) and the writer simply saw that as a "headline" type slot.
This is slighlty off topic,but I se that Ween is not playing Coachella this year. They said they were not doing many fests this summer, so thats good news for us Ween fans
I would like to see DJ Shadow doing a late late night show like Sasha did last year. I'm not much of a electronic music fan at all. But that guy has skills.
