Update: 1.27.2007
2007 - Will We Get Our Phil? Sorry, we don't have anything solid to report right now except that we have heard reliable rumors that Phil will do *something* this year and *not* maintain an overextended hiatus after his successful fight against prostate cancer. He'll be at Slims on 2.9 but what else? Rumors are starting to circulate about a possible P&F tour with the Allman Brothers Band. Another rumor has it that Phil is planning a summer tour with Bob Weir and Trey that will cross the country twice consisting of a total of sixty shows (supposedly a third will be on the East coast). Rumors continue to say that John Molo will be on drums and on the keys - Steve Winwood! Allegedly there will be a revolving door of opening bands. If rumors are true, they will be playing primarily stadiums where the parking lots will open very early every day and fans wil be allowed to camp overnight. Hang tight - we'll get our Phil!
i sure hope so. seems perfect for sunday headliner. ive got my finger crossed. and ive said it before but phil made a date with all of us last year to be back this year. i for one believe he will keep the date.

I think thats the cool thing about Phil & Friends, he can headline two years in a row because the band is always changing, and usually are all good. I think p&f is the only band that could've really headlined two nights, not anymore, because it essentially could've been almost 2 different bands each night, both big enough to headline.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Does anyone here know how accurate this place has been on rumors in the past? I thought that the ABB were taking a break through the summer, but I guess it doesn't say anything about when the tour is.
I agree, this would be the perfect Sunday night headliner. IF it proves to be true I figure they will play Roo, which would make me all giddy.
gah if trey, bob, and phil headlined bonnaroo together i think i might die. plus the allman brothers! this is the best rumor ive heard in a while. im praying its true

Wow, honestly out of all those musicians, I am most excited if the Winwood part is true.
Here's my reasoning:
Kick ass Traffic songs Winwood can sing, which with Phil's bands is always a good thing He's not Joan Osbourne (hate her, she ruined the set last year IMO)
Seriously, if the whole rumor is true we could see Bobby and Steve singing most songs, and then a little Trey, and very little Phil (he really shouldn't ever sing). Would be great!!! Plus who knows who else would show up (Warren!!!).
i thought she did a great job! i agree about phil singing for the most part. but i love hearing phil do box of rain. i love that song. certainly my fav phil song.

Joan's neverending little improv or whatever last year was unbearable. I wouldn't care if it was her show, do what you want then. But this was a Phil and Friends show, and she literally took over the stage for like 10-15 minutes and did her little blues woman thing. "You know what I mean Bonnaroo?" No Joan, shut your mouth! Phil and Friends is for Dead songs, and jamming. The occasional non Dead song happens, but Joan just took it too far. Seriously if she is one of the friends I will scream.
Wasn't her "little blues woman thing" during "Caution?"
If that's what you were referring to, it is very much a Dead song and was traditionally filled with the rapping of Pigpen. While I can't say it was up to par with the improv crowd hyping I've heard from him on various releases, I think it's kind of cool that she goes to the effort of trying to keep it authentic.

I saw Phil and Freinds this summer and I think my ears might have bled if Joan wasn't there. I'm not a huge fan of her, but Phil doesn't exactly have a great voice. The man can play a bass guitar, but he sure as hell can't sing. But even with his voice, you still gotta love Phil. He is deffinatley my favorite living member of the dead.
