Was just thinking...if the Police booking comes thru, they're obviously gonna command a shit-ton of money...definitely the higest-ever fee for Bonnaroo. Assming this happens, how much more do you think the gen adm and VIP tix will this yr?
First things first. Let's wait for the Police to be announced, then worry about costs IF they play there will probably be a raise up of 10-20 because of inflation and the added costs from booking someone so big. I doubt it will be that big of a jump, because I'm sure Radiohead was pretty darn expensive too.
I had absolutely no idea that people still gave a sh*t about the Police before hearing of their reunion rumors. Now after relistening to some of their older material, I can hear some things I haven't heard before, but still don't understand the pant wetting. I'll see 'em if they come, but am certainly not expecting to be blown away. Worries over Sting's lute solos still linger...
i agree with aquariumdrunk, i still don't see what the big deal with the police are, i think bringing in waters or gilmour would make a alot more bonnaroo people happy and have a much greater impact, the police are relics who imo don't really fit in with the rest of the roo vibe, just my 2cents
I wound up paying 205 total for 1 ticket last year ticket price was $184.50 Tickets will probably go up another 8-10 dollars so mabe 215 or something. It went up $12 from 2005-2006 I dont think who is playing will have that much of an effect on ticket price. Try to get the first round of tickets.
If they end up playing Roo, I'll be there with bells on! I always HOPE to end up liking something I may have previously doubted, or overlooked due to limited exposure. I mean, who doesn't want to discover more music to enjoy?!

^yeah, if i had the moeny saved up then i woulda but i ahd just boguht christmas gifts for everyone i knew. oh well, the regular price is in no way outrageous
Expect tickets to go up at least 10, maybe 20 dollars. Every year ticket price has increased by these amounts. The price you need to pay close attention to is the final tier of tickets, b/c there aren't very many lower tier tickets. That is really just a marketing ploy to get people to buy tickets the day of sale and not wait it out. I think they feel like they can get away with higher ticket prices on the last tier, every year, b/c they sell it out nearly every year. VIP tickets haven't gone up over the years, and frankly it'd be a little silly to raise them in price. They are almost $550 per ticket when it's all said and done, easily one of the most expenisve face value concert tickets anywhere. Raising them$10-50 doesn't add THAT much to the gross tickets sales b/c there are so many fewer VIP tickets than GA Tickets They want to keep the VIP price reasonable enough that they can sell a targeted number.
well if the police play roo its sounds like they will do a tour. im not sure how many police fans are going to deal with roo if they can see them in their own town. if anythng they should raise vip prices to cover the police. i was wrapped up in the inital excitement. but after going back and listening im just not that excited. theres like 3 songs i wanna hear. petty had a dozen and i was still disappointed in hearing it played exactly as it was on his greatest hits album... just expected more form a roo headliner. i have a feeling the police will just play their greatest hits note for note off the album. petty didnt jam it out and they play together all the time. how much can a recent reunion really do? it will be enough trouble for them to get it right doing it as it sounds on the cd. but just like petty it is a show that i will enjoy and be happy to say i saw them but i dont expect a mind blowing radiohead/phil and friends type experience. i think we will see a slight ticket increase(like we do every year) someones gotta pay for the farm.

Have you listened to their live album? Because on that they dont sound exactly like the songs off the albums, and theres good crowd interation, and some little jams too. I think a lot of people just have the wrong idea about their shows, thinking they just play their albums, which i dont think is the case. For those who arent sold, i suggest checking out their live album before you write them off.
no i havent. i will try to find it. definitly not writing them off. i learned that lesson with radiohead. but my expectations arent that high. i will definitly be there enjoying the show. in no way do i imagine it being a bad show. just not mindblowing. but i hope my expectations are exceeded. and i will check out the live album before i finalize my expectations. i searched for live police and it brought up a bunch of shows. and they are all flacs.... too big for my lack of hardrive space. does the live actual album have a name i could search for??

The albums just called Live! It was released in 95', and has two shows, one from their early days, and one from their last tour. Another thing about the police is that they're all good musicians, so they are very well capable of putting on a special, unconventional for them, show at the roo'. But i can definatly see how someone who likes the two nights of panic wouldnt be overly excited about the police. (not refering to you, just the general people who would prefer headliners like that)
thanks... i can only find it in a discography. they are too big also. ill have to have a friend get it and burn me a copy. or go buy it..... that seems drastic though
ya i dont get wsp. i like them alot from the albums ive listened to.. but the 2 headliner nights at roo didnt do much for me.
i am most of the way through the live album ziggy recommended and its got me more excited then i was before. even the songs i dont know are good. i wonder if they can fill the slot also. but i wondered that about radiohead and they played the longest set they have ever played at roo. roo seems to bring it out. well except for petty. he didnt play long enough. only 2 hours. and it seemed like half of it was the 3 minute breaks between songs. but i am still glad i saw him. just expected 3 hours of jamming out and it didnt happen. more like a double disc greatest hits, only hhe was there. which would be hard to complain about if it wasnt a roo headliner

Glad your comming around. ;D I'm not sure how long the police's shows used to be, but on that album they stretch a lot of songs out to 6 minutes plus, and thats without the crowd interaction, so i have faith they can fill the slot. Hopefully this reunion will rejuvinate them as well, and they'll have a little something special planned. Also, as dude said, i think a lot of their fans will rather see them on tour, so that gives them the opportunity to put on a more unconvential show for the roo crowd.
