I know I am not cool. But I bought blinds for the third year in a row so here’s my hopes and fears
Best - killers or pumpkins, beck, bon iver Worst - take imapla (I don’t get it), vampire weekend, incubus (I did see here now and don’t need them again)
Undercard hopes - death cab, big red machine, against me, Brian Fallon
Going into this year's festival, the lineup was actually my 2nd least favorite out of the 6 years (2016 was my least) but at the end it was probably my best overall experience. The warm and friendly people I meet while waiting for acts are a given but 4 moments stick out for me. Florence telling all of us to put away our phones/cameras and get into the moment with love during "Dog Days Are Over", the epic sing along to Arcade Fire's "Wake Up", the Foster the People/Cirque du Soleil collaboration was awesome, and more or less N.E.R.D's entire set. Their energy, the mosh pits, the crowd surfers was just amazing. I also LOVED the new installation of the creepy scifi alley with the lights and music.
Top 5 sets 1. Florence + the Machine 2. N.E.R.D 3. Death Cab For Cutie 4. Arcade Fire 5. Tyler, the Creator
Guys a hate to repost this, but I am still trying to get rid of 4 weekend passes. They are $180 ea. with fees now through VooDoo and all I am asking for is $500 for all 4. If you or anyone you know are in need please PM me. I really need to get sell them. So bummed I cannot make it this year.
serious question - is it worth it to have 2 bourbon lodge passes (30 drinks). I'm a heavy weight and they are popping up on stubhub. I have never been and don't know how they are pouring
Im traveling solo to this - Hampton inn booked 4 miles away - if you are interested in sharing room you can stay cheaper than Airbnb and get free breakfast - if going at same time can split uber - DM me if interested
Anyone coming last minute, I may have an extra room in the Airbnb house I rented. One of my buddies might not be able to go. We are a bunch of degenerates, so just... keep that in mind though if you’d consider it.
In - and I will join you in degeneration if you need assistance - will PM
This thing is always a complete kid fest. I was definitely not plan on coming back but the gaslight anthem and all. Very good day of white boy guitar rock. No crowds for that. Sadly if I were running this thing I’m walking by the stages I do believe I would pull the plug on all of the acts that I like. Or pay them less and put them earlier In The day
Just because I had nothing to do and to move up my position for the gaslight anthem I decided to make my way Through the Galantis crowd from the back. I have never hated a show more. What terrible I want to say music but I do t even know what it is I guess I like some of the songs that they played that other people wrote
I hear ya on the pulling the plug/moving up acts thing but I really hope they don't. I love the way the fest has been counter programmed this year. Let the huge crowds go to the main stage for those acts and attempt to book something that will resonate with the older crowds for the smaller stages. Seeing Manchester, Japandroids and Gaslight with a small and passionate more mature audience made the fest so much better for me than last year
Agree. Totally worth the trip for what is defiantly now the counter programming. That said I am thinking that sooner or later it will just be booked to exclude the Japandroids or Manchester Orchestra in favor of Lil pump or lil t or lil something

Anyone else get stuck in that insane bottleneck walking over the bridge? Took an hour to get from Randalls to 125th st, never seen anything like it in my comings and goings to Randalls Island.
Sure, it's possible. I don't see any Fall tour plans yet. They played New Orleans two summers ago, it was a killer show. I wonder what their price is though? They were playing stadiums, although that might have calmed down a bit.
I’d guess they went from way too high to stretch goal for voodoo given there 2 years of touring. And everyone calming down a bit. Would be a unique US fest booking this year
My opinion - which is 100% based on if I could relive this right now
- Manchester orchestra - Japandroids aftershow - The Menzingers - The National - Greta Van Fleet (sorry) - Matt and Kim (sorry again) - David Byrne - Jack White - Basement - Lukas Nelson - Jimmy eat world
Best moments - Manchester Orchestra - the Silence - how did he make it rain? - Lukas Nelson - forget about Georgia - jack White - Ball and Biscuit - Greta Van Fleet - the one that sounds like the zeppelin cover - The National - Graceless
Best smelling fan base - Greta Van Fleet Worst smelling fan base - The Menzingers
Sherlock’s - fine Stoplight observations were good. Credible cover of Wake up Bully was good as always. Crowd was disappointing Greta Van Fleet - 100% led zeplin R.I.P. off as divided ad nausea that said damn are the good. And young. And I thought it was fantastic Props to the circa survive mosh pit. We brought it Manchester Orchestra. Just the best. What a great band. Andy making it rain during the Silence was a cool trick. No idea how he pulled that off. Probably saves it for outside shows Matt and Kim dance party is horrifically dumb. But it’s pretty tough to not have a great time. I don’t know what they do. But they are good at it Queens don’t do it for me. Queens from The back after day 2 really don’t do it for me.
Japandroids aftershow kicked all kinds of sweaty ass. If you were there and moshing, you are my people
Byrne was great but Jack White is the best guitarist to come out of the last 30 or so years. Both killed it tho and I don’t see anyone topping either for the rest of the weekend.
The National would like a word with you. Saw them 2x last weekend. They bring it
