So I'm to the point with my new IMAC where I've remastered almost all of my pc habits on the apple. still suffering some integration issues, but on the learn !
What lies in front of me is conquering the super DVD drive in order to copy commercially released movies (for my own personal back-up ). I have a way of taking less than stellar care of my dvds...
I'll most likely use Toast Titanium for the burn. But I'm new to this pesky css encryption. Anyone wanna offer up a link, advice about a program to use or Not to use, etc ?
Any advice will be useful, as I am just beginning this quest....
Thank you kindly, in advance !
Feel free to pm me if you'd rather.

I use anydvd on my pc, but I have friends that have used fast dvd copy for mac...I think they have a "trial" download.....don't know how long it lasts...but I know it handles css encryption...... ;D
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
dvd shrink is good, but they stopped development on it about 2 years ago. even still, it works for 95% of DVD's I've tried. some of the more recent DVD's are too complicated for it, so I resort to other means. i like free software (like, really free - not pirated free) and dvdshrink fits the bill
Haven't been around to say thank you cuz i've been enveloped in all the reading there is to do on the subject.
AnyDvd seems to be the way, but alas, not for macs. still pokin' around.
I used to Love the Freeware myself, as a pc user. But I guess it's also part of what killed my pc. Now as a macster, I find less and less that's free, for sure. After having bought Toast Titanium for my burns for a hundred bucks, I thought i was done.(I do love Toast, though. automatic decoding of flacs while burning is supersweet!) I'm faced with a shakedown now for Word for Mac, just to read word .docs. I've been using Flip for Mac to manage wmv files, but it's trial just ended. I'm caught in the middle of integration wars, though I kinda new I was in for that from my long standing hatred of real player and quicktime.
So far, it looks like Mac the Ripper might be my route. Free for everything but the latest updates. Those come with a donation. Probably give that a try.
