I don't know if anyone has posted this yet
6/12/06
:: THE 2006 BONNAROO MUSIC FESTIVAL IS SOLD OUT ::
There will be no tickets available for sale at the festival site. If you don't have a ticket, we strongly urge you to stay home and not to come to the festival expecting to purchase one.
Thanks to everyone for your tremendous enthusiasm and support for our 5th annual festival. We're really excited about this year's Bonnaroo and we're looking forward to seeing you in a few days.
:: EVERYDAY GREEN TIPS - THINGS YOU CAN DO ::
Follow this link for a list of things you can do in your everyday life to make everything a bit 'greener'. From buying smart bulbs, to recycled paper, to the right car, with little effort, you can help make a difference. We'd like to thank StopGlobalWarming.org for the use of this list.
:: SOLAR STAGE SPEAKERS ::
Check out the "Social Change Through Music" Panels and find out what inspires musicians to be activists and activists to work with the music community. Check the schedule in the artist section of the website and on the Bonnaroo map you receive onsite for a list of speakers including musicians from the festival like Bonnie Raitt, Al Schnier, John Medeski, Victor Wooten and many more. Also check out global warming experts Dr. Jonathan Pershing and Daniel A. Lashof from the World Resource Institute and the Natural Resource Defense Council.
:: HEADCOUNT VOTER REGISTRATION ::
HeadCount, the non-partisan voter registration organization, will be on hand at Bonnaroo as part of the group's "Midterms Matter Tour" this summer, a campaign to remind people that the next national election counts just as much as the last one. To find out more or to register to vote on-line, go to www.headcount.org.
:: SONIC STAGE ::
Located in the Bonnaroo Sonic Village, the Sonic Stage gives fans a chance to see Bonnaroo performers in a rare, intimate setting. Check the Sonic Stage schedule on the festival map for special live interviews and acoustic performances throughout the weekend. You may even get a chance to meet some of your favorite artists!
:: SONIC FOREST: BONNAROO ::
The "Sonic Forest: Bonnaroo", is a 1,000 square-foot interactive sound and light environment created by the Boston-based architect/musician/sound artist Christopher Janney. It is composed of 16 eight-foot tall cylinders which contain audio speakers, lights, and photo/electric cells. As people pass between the poles, they 'play' the forest, triggering an ever changing 'score' of melodic tones and environmental sounds.
:: SEARCH-A-ROO WINNER: GOLDEN ::
Atlanta's 92.9 Dave FM held the first ever Search-a-Roo to send a regional band to Bonnaroo. The station spent weeks inviting unsigned artists to drop off their CDs, then asked fans to listen and vote for their favorites online. The top two bands, Big City Sunrise and Golden, both played to a rowdy, full house at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta for the finale. Golden walked away the winner based on listener voting and a panel of judges from Bonnaroo and Dave FM. We are proud to welcome Golden to perform at this year's festival-they play the Troo Music Lounge on Saturday at 6:30PM.

I was interested to see that they are telling people without tickets to stay home...there has been a lot of talk on here about if they reallly were sold out and that they would possibly be selling tix there.....I guess that puts that to rest......

i totally knew that the sonic forest would be back this year, it was cemented into the ground last year, most things that they take some work to put in tend to stay in, hence the playground, the swingsets, the baseball cages, shit like that, so yes the sonic forest will prolly be around for the rest of bonnaroos future

I laughed so hard last year late Sat night in the sonic forest. It was hundreds of anime characters (happy rooers) walking around smiling and giggling. The single biggest concentration of good vibes on site.

so it looks like superfly were being nice guys and telling people tickets were going fast. All you peeps saying it was just a marketing ploy. Or was it and it worked?

me think you are mistaken. They didn't sell out last year, and they already stopped shipping tickets. They have been using print-out tickets for at least a day or two.

indeed. i had to buy my friend his ticket on friday, and his was a print out
it did. i got a heads up from someone working at the site and he told us a few days ago to tell anyone we knew to get tix b/x they were expecting all tix to sell out in a day or two from then.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Yeah, they had tickets for sale at the fest last year -- this year, as it has been mentioned, they've clarified that it's not the case. If they could squeeze a few more thousand dollars out of the last few tickets, I'm sure they would.

Both...
I mentioned before it's a momentum-based marketing ploy. But you only pull it off if you really are close to selling out. If you're not, you just look silly. It's sort of an insurance.
Just a thought. I payed for my ticket on the day before we left last year. Picked it up at the Will Call office, somewhere in town. Seems they just reduced the crowd this year to make for a less hectic atmosphere. Suits me. 80K is enough, eh?
Well this is it folks, most of us are leaving out soon. No more lurky posts from me. See you guys and gals there.
