I attended a press screening of this with my mom last night. In my opinion, it was very, very good.
I was surprised by the film, as it was a solid, unyielding parody of the troubled music legend biopic from start to finish. I thought that would just be the backdrop for Apatow and his crew to do their usual jokes (like 70's-era local broadcasting, or the NASCAR culture) with limited success. Instead, nearly all the jokes were derived from the spoofing of these overly dramatized, predictable and sensationalist films (no, I didn't so much care for 'Ray' or 'Walk the Line'). This doesn't make it a great film, but it gives a clear gauge by which to judge the film: how astutely, wittily and convincingly their parody is. And it is all of those, very much so.
And since it's a musical parody, the cornerstone is the soundtrack. Since Dewey Cox's life covers nearly all the major moments in rock and pop history (at least the first several decades), there are many types of songs and people to be spoofed. Some are inherently funny, like the Cash/Carter-esque collaboration of double entendres called "Let's Duet", or the outrageously complicated and pompous Brian Wilson-esque "Black Sheep", but others are funny simply because of their excellent mimicry, as in the Roy Orbison homage "A Life Without You (Is No Life At All)". And throughout all this is the shockingly adept and downright enjoyable voice of John C. Reilly, who nails every performer's trademarks and quirks. I wouldn't be surprised if this soundtrack goes right up there with the soundtracks to "This Is Spinal Tap" and "A Mghty Wind".
If you like Apatow's films, or if you like a great parody, or if you just like good music, go see this film.
----And Jack White plays Elvis. "Look out man!" I'll prob go see it with my girlfriend, as we see every new movie thats out...i'll have to see I Am Legend first though, it looks badass
Walk Hard looks absolutely hilarious. I read a review for it, and the comedy style is similar to Airplane! in that it makes you laugh literally every second.
No Country For Old Men looks to be one of the most amazing films of this year. I mean, come on. The Coen Brothers are fantastic, and this is the film that will see their rise back to the top.

Yeah, that was a trip. I recognized him, but couldn't place him, expecting he was a comedic actor I had seen somewhere before. I did a double-take when I saw his name in the credits!
"Dewey Cox" performed at the Mercy Lounge here in Nashville Saturday night. He is doing a six-city tour to promote the movie. Jack White was in the house but did not take the stage. I was unfortunately not there, but heard he did a great show. He said "I've never heard so many men say 'I love Cox'" ;D
John C. Reilly asked Jack to play Elvis, and Jack asked if it would be the fat old Elvis or the young one. When he said the young one, Jack said OK.

No Country For Old Men was great. It's definitely the best movie the Coen brothers have made since Fargo. Make the time to see this movie. You'll be glad you did. Besides Rotten Tomatoes has it at 95% so it should be a pretty safe bet.
Edit: How could I have forgotten The Big Lebowski? Its the best one since then. My bad.
I took my little brother to see Walk Hard on Sunday. We laughed hysterically throughout it and were quoting parts all the way home! I agree wholeheartedly with everything Steveternal said in his original post, and I definitely will be getting the soundtrack!
