I rode my bike to work today! It's so damn beautiful in Atlanta right now I would have been a jerk not to hop on my bike. My commute is 18 miles round trip and I haven't ridden more than a lazy mile or two for the last few months so the hills were TOUGH. It still felt great though. Thankfully I've been running a lot so I'm not exhausted right now. I just need to build my bike muscles back up.
Also I bought a car last week! I've never done that before! I got a great deal on it and came in way under budget so that was fun.
I think I'm more excited about the bike ride though haha.
Awesome. I would love to do that. My work is 14 miles one way and hard to avoid major roads.
Grats on the car!
Thanks! I lucked out on the bike route. I spend about 500 yards on a major road then can cut across a college campus and a neighborhood then I hop on a big mixed-use trail that plops me off downtown. It's one of the rare instances in Atlanta where bike is a viable transportation option haha.
Fuck Friday (I work a double at my restaurant and today was especially weird and slow). I'm gonna wake up tomorrow on my day off as late as I can. Then try and get some chicken and waffles fer breakfast/brunch.
the bad news: our teacher threw us a curveball and didn't allow us to use any pre-prepped materials (notes, presentations, etc), just picked random people from our groups to present, made us give our presentations in an interview style while he absolutely grilled us and tried to knock our ideas down about our campaigns, did things like turned the power out during the presentations (me), etc.
the good news: I've had at least 7 people come up to me and compliment me by telling me I blew everyone else's presentations away.

The lady came in Saturday afternoon and left early this evening. Now, I sit waiting for King Gizzard at a 100 person venue. Labor Day weekend kicks ass.

Speaking of, thanks to Rothric I scored a ticket to King Gizzard off Jukely for Wednesday!

Can't wait to hear your and Marc's report tomorrow! Really excited for Wednesday!

marcoolio isn't making it out actually. He's got a deathly illness. Got to hate the timing on those sometimes. Show up for the opener Wednesday if you can. He's nothing groundbreaking but he's a good time. He's put out stuff on Burger Records and it shows.
Edit: the opener also looked kind of like bansheebeat had a long lost Canadian brother who decided to grow a pornstache.

Yeah. Initial reaction is that was the best show I've seen all year. They played multiple new songs off the upcoming album. All of them were great. Monie, if you wuss out on this show, you're really fucking up.

Awesome. Roughly how long did they play?
It was about 1 hour and 15 minutes which was about what I expected. The plan may have been for them to play a little less because they played an extended jam that had a little of several songs in it. When that finished, everyone putting down instruments until the singer checked the clock and saw they had some time before midnight and they decided to play another song from the new album.

They only had the one opener last night. You guys have two (the same as last night plus an Austin band). They let the one last night play a 45 minute set. If they let both openers play a longer set, you should be fine on time. Just be ready to go when you get off work.

Yea, that's my plan of attack. I'm bringing an extra shirt to change into. Rothric said he'd text me the set times if they're posted when he gets there so I can budget my time better. I'm excited!
The 46-year-old owner of two Texadelphias is out to prove to the restaurant industry — and the rest of the corporate world — that special-needs employees can be business blessings.
And he’s annoyed with the excuses. “I want to say BS to every HR and legal department that says their companies can’t hire ‘those types because of liabilities.’ I want to ruin their Labor Day weekend.
“There are 232,000 adults in North Texas with special needs who need jobs,” Landis says. “I want to put together an example of what the restaurant industry could be doing on a bigger scale and show that it’s not that difficult or science fiction.”
Landis has been hiring employees with special needs for Texadelphia stores for four years, working with the Irving and Highland Park school districts and nonprofit groups.
Now he’s taking that a step further. His newest concept, Howdy Homemade, will feature custom ice cream and gourmet sandwiches prepared and served by these special forces.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
But seriously the last few weeks you guys have just been amazing to me. I have never once felt alone in all of this. All the messages and cards have meant more than I can say. Now this... I don't even know what to say. But thank you. That's huge chunk of getting us to Germany this Christmas. That trip and being with family over the Holidays will mean so much to me and even more so to my Mom and brother.
Also as for the tree dedications that's a special tribute to him. One of the biggest things I inherited from my Dad is my love of the outdoors and many of my favorite memories with him are camping, fishing, and hiking in the forests of Arizona (its not just desert, they exist and are beautiful i promise). Also worth noting that I'd like to think one of the other things I inherited from him is his sense of humor and I got a real laugh (and im pretty sure he would have too) out of the fact that in one of his many lives he grew certain plants somewhere in the middle of a in a national forest not too far from here and now there are other plants growing in tribute to him.
