As someone that hasn't ever received a raise at this job (5 years) and was told I was at the top of pay grade when I asked for one on year 2, FYP. Getting one on a rough week is ESPECIALLY nice. Congratulations and I am very jealous.
Is that as bad as finding out that they're starting out new hires at what I'm making now (been there 5 years)?
That is pretty shitty, I had that happen when I was the bartender/manager. My not-my-boss-anymore was just a bitch to me and I really wanted to clapback, but I bit my tongue and did the "request." I say request in quotes because I wasn't asked, I was told and it was extremely rude and she isn't my boss to be bossing me around. I seriously need to get the fuck out of this place. And apparently you need a new job too sang_xcx.

4 days into the new job and they gave me the reigns to the kitchen stereo. I’ve managed to piss off the wait staff and 3/4ths of the kitchen. I’m on a roll, guys.
Everyone's talking about jobs on this thread. I lost my job in October, got a new one in December, but it was a management position. I didn't want to be a manager, but my new boss said it wasn't a real management position and I wouldn't have to be a direct manager for people. Now I'm a direct manager for 5 people (liar!), but they've all told me I'm a good manager. It's been unexpected, but very nice.
I got a new job! I'm going to be a producer for a food and travel show in the south. It's a big promotion for me and I'm SUPER excited about the content and the freedom I'll have to tell good stories.
And the best part is... I'm not a journalist anymore! I'm free to express myself and publicly fight for things I believe in and stuff!
Congratulations! That sounds really cool!!! You'll have to let us know how we can watch when the time comes
Posting about my job in another thread reminded me of this. If anyone wants to see what I do for a living and has a Roku you can install The Southern Wekeend channel and check it out! I wrote the Biloxi episode and produced/wrote the Columbus episode. At the start of June we'll post Huntsville and The Smokies so stay tuned!
If you don't have a Roku or aren't in a Raycom market I can PM you a link to the Columbus episode. It is surprisingly fun and I learned a whole hell of a lot about Columbus, GA, in the production process.
AZ Gov. Doug Ducey signed off part of a new state budget that gives more money to education. Not all the teachers' demands have been met, but they will get a raise and some extra funding for support staff and supplies, and after 6 long days of "second spring break" my daughter gets to go back to school tomorrow!

I started my summer job this week treating lawns. The first two days I was with a creepy predator esque, Bill Cosby defending, N word dropping, music elitist but they put me with my friends dad and now the job is much better. Pays really well so maybe I’ll actually be able to get a new car this summer!

Glad for you. I'm not sure I would have lasted past the second day.

I can tolerate that stuff since I’m used to it but he also had a massive ego and would correct me on tiny shit just to correct me.
My income tax return came back and it is a nice one. I have paid off my computer a month before the interest kicked in, paid off one credit card and a chunk on another one. Caught up on all the bills and am finally ahead, plus I am buying myself the skates I have been eyeing for about a year and a half now. I am even going to splurge and get the lightup wheels. Riot Fest really put us in a bad spot last year because we just kept having issues pop up, we were struggle for a minute and it is so nice that we are finally all caught up. We will even have savings (after I buy my skates). I am so fucking excited. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my chest and I can breath (well the best that an asthmatic can breath that is) again.
Here are the skates for anyone that cares:
I haven't bought myself new skates since 2010 when I bought my skates for roller derby. I am so fucking excited and happy. I can not wait!
I worked out for the first time since freshman year today. Just simple cardio, eventually I wanna lose a shit ton of weight.
Working out made me feel really, really good.
congrats, that's great!
finally i can look back and say i've been doing regular cardio 3-4 times a week for all of this year. it's the longest i've ever stuck to an exercise regime.
what really did it for me was high intensity interval training. i do this on an exercise bike:
1. 5 minute warm up at steady speed 2. 30 seconds as fast and hard as I possibly can go 3. 1.5 minute steady speed 4. repeat 2 & 3 five times 5. 5 minute cool down
but anyone can do the same just running or on any piece of cardio equipment.
all in it's a twenty minute exercise and i feel like i'm dying at the end. heavy wheezing breaths, absolutely horrible. but as i cool down those endorphins start flowing and i feel amazing. burning some extra calories is a nice side effect, but the #1 reason i exercise is to feel good, and the above exercise makes me feel better than anything i've tried.

I landed a pair of sb dunk white widows this year and decided not to wear them til I passed my weight loss goal. I officially passed it today, so I think this weekend I'll be putting those sexy suede thangs on. Also please don't rain Texas.

Just make sure to put on that leather protector shit and let them sit first. I sprayed my brand new adidas twice and after I wear them I wipe them off to keep them super white. If I see I scuffed them during the night, I usually go to the bathroom to wipe off the dirt also.
Don't wear them if it rains. Also, congrats on the weight loss. That is awesome!
