Oh man, today is a good day. I've worked 11 out of the past 14 days, and I work 10-11 hours days so while I'm pretty used to it towards the tail end of it I've been dragging. Haven't been able to do normal things like clean or get groceries and whatnot. Welp, my three-day weekend has started, I've gotten 7+ hours of sleep each the past two nights (a rarity), and I'm legit super excited clean my house and replenish my very, very sad cabinets. Then two nights of Goose! Very grateful today just to have energy and do life-affirming things instead of working and falling asleep on the couch.

I forget how many years ago this was now, but I applied for a job. It was two brothers who ran the company. The position was offering $15 an hour. I asked for $16. One brother was going to go to 16. The other ended up hiring someone else at 15. It was kind of a mess.
I ended up getting $16 somewhere else about a month later.

Had a pretty great interview this morning at the University of Tennessee. If I get the job, great it gets me closer to my goal of teaching - if I don't, I really like my job now and I have another year on this grant and lots of job opportunities here, until then.
The biggest yay isn't the interview though, it is realizing that I don't regret all the work I put into being a nurse. I was seriously regretting my decision for a couple years so YAY!

I mentioned this to another one of my nurse friends recently and I am going to throw it out here. If you are a nurse and burnt out (which after the pandi is understandable) there are "medics" in the film industry.
The requirements are:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic with at least 5 years experience in a 911‐type facility. EMTs should have 5 years 911 experience with additional specialty training e.g. Lifeguard wilderness 1st aid skills. Must have vast knowledge and be a quick thinker to respond to an urgent emergency. Medical director will review resumes. Must be comfortable in extreme weather conditions such as heat, snow, rain, and wind and must also be willing to work long, and many times late, hours.
I can tell that my medics do very little all day and just watch youtube. The pay is really great. Again, not exactly directed at you, but just in general. We are currently in a shortage here in NOLA and I am sure it is the same in other areas due to the amount of filming going on right now.

She’s in the infusion center now, but she’s worked in the hospital since I was little. She was in endoscopy before the infusion center and the ER before that.

Nice! I was on Med/Surg General Surgery & Gastrointestinal Unit. One of my co-workers moved to the infusion center and really liked it.

Yeah, she likes it there too. Seems less stressful in general than endoscopy was.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
