I made the terrible, terrible, terrible mistake of purchasing an LG Chocolate phone last year late Jan/early Feb. It definitely makes my "Top 5 Worst Purchases Ever" list - ranking even higher than that self-titled Liz Phair album.
Anyway, I bought the one-year warranty which allows me to get a replacement phone when my Chocolate craps out on me. I have had to swap this piece of dung four times now, and I'd swap it for a fifth if I weren't so close to the end of the one-year warranty. I'm on the New Every Two deal, but I have had to take this atrocity of a phone in to exchange/complain so often they made a note on my file saying I can get a new phone without screwing up my New Every Two in the process.
It's almost that time, so I'm starting to look into different phones. I mostly use it for making calls, text/pix messages, and Tetris. I don't require mp3/web bells & whistles. All I know at this point is that I have DEFINITELY ruled out anything from LG again.
My questions to you: What phone are you using? Would you give it a yay or nay, and why?
I have some sort of Nokia that's not on their site anymore - nothing fancy at all, but no problems in the 6-7 months I've had it.
But my friend has the Samsung SCH-u740 and so far has been happy with it (maybe 3 months?). And sends the fastest texts ever because of the keyboard. And it's super thin.
Yeah, that's another important thing I should've mentioned... I don't like the race-to-the-smallest kind of phones if I can avoid. My previous phone was the Kyocera KX2, which I would have stuck with had Verizon still supported it. That thing was closer in size to a bar of soap than a deck of cards, and it swiveled rather than flipped open. I'm not a big fan of the flip either, but it's not a make-or-break kinda thing.
I'm actually comparing three phones on the website and one of them is the SCH-u740, so it's good to know that phone's alright. I think it's losing me with the small keyboard, though.

I hate thin phones. It's just begging to slip right out of my pocket whenever I sit down.
...That being said, I have ATT, and I officially hate all of you! ;D (just kidding, I'm actually just really jealous you have a functional cell phone company...)
I had to replace it once a few months ago but haven't really had any problems since then. It has the MP3 player but I never use it.
Have you guys seen the Voyager from Verizon...
a friend of mine got one for Christmas and it's super duper cool. It flips open and has a full keyboard and is totally touch screen. I guess it's their answer to the Iphone. I want one ;D
I want one, too. I got a Samsung for Christmas and, while it's a great phone, my tired eyes can barely see the keypad. I think I need a full keyboard. Hmmmmmm.
Whatever phone I get has only got to last me until I can get another New Every Two phone around this time in 09. So I don't have to go all-out. I'm kinda liking the Motorola Razr V3m. I gave that one a look while I was out in New Hampshire and it looked doable - and doable is all I really need for the year.

I have the same phone aly, I've never had any problems with it. It's a BEAST. I have thrown it against walls, and still works like the day I bought it. I've dropped it from quite a distance as well, and still works great. Has great reception as well. It is an LG, but I think it's a great phone. When I buy my phones, it's usually for durability.

Same thing here. I've dropped it on concrete, my 4 year old has thrown it across the room, and he's steals it and leaves it all over the house in very interesting places... still works like a charm.
I have the same one... it was actually my bfs phone but he gave it to me after he threw mine across the room and smashed mine. I personally prefer something smaller, and I liked my other phone better. It was the VX5300. It was really lightweight and felt good in my hands. I'm not rough with my phones so it was perfect for me.. I agree though, if you are looking for durability, go with the one above. My bf is the kind of person who puts his phone with his keys and tools and drops it every other day. He broke the lense on the camera but it still works.

Me and KellyO have the first generation of that new LG phone with the keyboard. Even the old one is super cool. No touch screen, but it has the full keyboard. They've been great. There's no way I could go back to a regular keypad after being spoiled with the QWERTY. it's great for IM, email, and even limited web browsing in a pinch.
They were 2 for 1 last year and we both love them. They take ok pictures but we don't use that much. They are great for texting because they flip up like a little keyboard - although the keys are pretty small. We've both dropped them on our driveway a few times but they don't seem to get damaged too easily I would definitely recommend this phone.

i went to get the voyager 3 weeks before christmas. and they told me they could order it and hopefully itd be in by christmas. christmas came and went and they told me to check back after the new year. and that came and went. and eventually i gave up waiting. i just don't understand why they would heavily advertise something that they obviously are having trouble producing fast enough. really made me mad.
so, i settled for the Moto Q. and i love it. works perfect. i have a few friends who have had it longer than me and they love it too. said they haven't had any problems. and if you are like me and manage to break flips phones in half like its your job, then the Q might be good for you.
it runs windows start menu. some people don't like that. [mostly those people who use blackberrys and think they are cool. or whatever]. and some people say its too big, but i think its a perfect size.
I just bought a chocolate yesterday. This is exactly what I need to hear....
I have taken mine in for: -plug unable/unwilling to take juice from the charger - both wall & car -screen crashing to all-white, unable to do anything (twice) -screen going completely black, but still able to make calls - just unable to see anything on the screen
Lately, I have had a big problem with the battery keeping power. I'm told this is because they kept the original battery in every time they swapped out for a new phone. I can go from "charge complete" to blinking empty battery within one five-minute phone call at this point. At this point, I only have a working car charger (wall charger's end wound up in a bucket of mop water; warranty does not cover water damage) and am eagerly awaiting the day I can swap it out.
Every phone I have ever had has been a LG. I love them! I'm sorry you're having such issues. That really sucks.
The same kinda thing happened to my friends ipod. She had to take it in 5+ times in the first year when she still had the warrenty and they fixed it a bunch of times and replaced it twice. And she still had problems.... I've had my ipod for over 2 years at this point and ive never had anything go wrong with it. I know some people who have horror stories though.
I bought the Chocalate when it first came out and it sucked! But then it was stolen and the one I got to replace it was an updated version with all the bugs worked out and it rocks!
