Hey everyone! Mardi Gras is right around the corner, with Fat Tuesday rolling in on February 5th
I live in South Mississippi, and Mardi Gras is a part of the culture here. Businesses close down, and everyone gets into the spirit and has a great time for the most part.
I'm thinking about venturing to New Orleans this year for a few parades now that I'm "old enough" as my parents told me.
But, I was just curious if any of you roosters live in the South where they celebrate Mardi Gras, or if any of you are making the trip to the Big Easy to let the good times roll!
Here's a pic from a few years ago in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. I'm on the left... Yeah, I know... My pants are a bit low. But for one, they're Diesel low cuts, and two... I was to drunk to give a f*ck! I think it was about 10 am when the picture was taken, and I was SMASHED. Still drunk from the night before at Lundi Gras.
BTW, I earned EVERY SINGLE BEAD that I got (and I had to make several trips back to the room to drop them off)! My nip ring was like a magnet for beads! There was a jaw-dropping female celeb of some kind (she had bodyguards) who had a Bourbon Street balcony on Fat Tuesday. She spotted my ring, pointed down to me and said, "I WANT TO LICK THAT!" Of course I smiled and yelled for her to come on down. There was a big crowd around us and she proceeded to lick it with her photographer taking pics of it. I had a picture of it somewhere around here. It was a priceless moment. i had a sh!t-eating grin on my face, and she... well... besides being drop-dead-gorgeous, had a huge smile on her face, and... yeah... her tongue on my nip ring. She gave me beads with a purple and white garter belt attached to it. (Which I still have)
Damn it, I love Mardi Gras. It's an amazing time. Although, I dropped about 800 bucks in THREE DAYS, and I have no idea where it all went. (Maybe it was all those triple Jager and Red Bulls that I was drinking!
I had planned on going this year. Maybe I'll still go... Who knows?
Yeah. It's nothing but debauchery down there. And I LOVE debauchery! I also got in a little contest at Razoo's where I had to race to change shirts with a girl onstage. The girl was about half my size. When I finally got it on, it barely went over my head!
There are tons of other stories, some worse than others... lol
You def should go. If I go, I'll let ya know. We'll have to do a few shots.
I'll be there for sure. Wouldn't miss it for anything. Kinda hard to at this point......Mardi Gras gets into your system, very much like Bonnaroo. After having had so many good times at Mardi Gras, I couldn't miss one. I've asked off of work Fri Feb. 1st, Sat. Feb. 2nd, and Sun Feb. 3rd. We're closed Mon and Tues, so no need to worry there. Me and my pals were thinking about setting up tent or possibly a set of tents somewhere along St. Charles Ave. and being in the same place every day. We have nothing set in stone as of yet, but it's in the works. We had done this in the years past but not in about 2 years. We usually have a grill out there, along with a keg or two, depending on how many people show up.
We are thinking of driving down for the day to catch some of the more family freindly parades - or going over to Mobile for Joe Cain Day to catch Moon Pies - still not sure what is in the plans yet
I'm in Mobile so I'lve been celebrating Mardi Gras since January 2nd. Joe Cain is my favorite day as it's viable excuse to dress like an indian and get smashed downtown in the middle of the day(as if you need an excuse to do that anyway). Mardi Gras day in NOLA is really one big clusterfuck while Mobile is nothing but fighting teenagers for beads and moonpies.
