Let me give you ladies a "What they say, what they mean" real quick, just for fun.
"I'm going to go play this video game" means "I would like to play a video game right now, so thats what I'm going to do"
What it does not mean: It does not mean "I don't love you anymore" It does not mean "I would rather be playing video games than spending time with you" It does mean ""I would like to play a video game right now, so thats what I'm going to do"
Its only when you read into things too far that men become messed up, I'd say we're fairly easy to read..

I personally, would like an invite to play video games
me too - and ya know - it is nice to be asked or included when your guy wants to do something like that - that does not mean that I wanna do it all the time but at least ask me - LOL

I'd guess that she was unhappy that you were spending a Friday night away from her, not that you were doing it playing video games.
which could be another whole set of problems if she can't bear to be away from you for one night out of the week.

Oh - I cannot imagine being that clingy - but I think the females here on Inforoo are a more independant type anyway - I actually encourage Boz to go to his friend's house to watch wrestling at least one night a week - gives me a break also!

Why must females play so many games?
It's biological: it's necessary to ensure the continued survival of the species. Women must 'weed out' suitors unfit for reproduction; the less 'value' a woman perceives in a potential mate, the less likely she is to be attracted to him. Submissiveness is a sign of low value... it simply isn't 'alpha male' behavior. Subsequently, doing everything you can to 'make a girl happy' frequently backfires, as it places your value below hers, and almost invariably leads to the LJBF speech ("Lets Just Be Friends"). Unfortunately, most men misinterpret this as an invalidation of the entire relationship, i.e., "they were just playing with me the whole time".
In short, it's not a game, it's just instinct.
Solution: don't be so eager to please. Having your own mind and opinions doesn't make you an a*hole. Heated discussions aren't to be avoided. Equals disagree; servants acquiesce. This doesn't mean you should be a complete contrarian, disagreeing with every word out of her mouth, but you should definitely never be afraid to speak your mind for fear of offending her.
Having said that, I hope I haven't assumed too much about your situation, NOLA, or offended anyone too greatly. Social dynamics is a 'hobby' of mine. Fascinating stuff, but frequently written off as psycho-babble mumbo jumbo (of which there is plenty to be found).
Spook, as I was reading your post, I really thought this was something I would hear on the Discovery channel, or TLC or something like that. haha, very nicely put.
everyone has put forth such great feedback, both serious and comical. I thank all you for your efforts. I think I just gotta find me a wonderful inforoo girl.

we were learning about something like this in my human evolution class today. its like sexual selection or something. females of all species are picky. and until they find "that guy" for them, they'll "play games". hahah or something like that.
