in the ohio/ky area, the big supermarket store is kroger's. when i was a kid, i remember seeing generic beer. it was a yellow can with black writing that just said BEER. for some reason i can still remember it perfecly!

Yeah, the Kroger version of Dr. Pepper is just simply Dr. K. And it tastes godawful! Stay away from Dr. K!
It's not a generic soda, but it is similar to Mountain Dew... 'round these here parts, we have a locally bottled soda called Ski. There's Diet Ski and Cherry Ski. It's good stuff. The big thing is to have it ice cold in a bottle.

No Lebow Ski, but there definitely should be! OT, but I do have a recipe for home-made Kahlua. I made a batch with my Grandma before Christmas.
The worst soda I ever had was a generic lime cola. I was a big fan of Pepsi Twist (sniff sniff, RIP) and I thought this generic lime cola might be similar. It was the most god-awful thing I've ever tasted in my life. Scared me away from generic soda for a long time. I don't even know how anyone thought it would sell.

In Oregon, they have Fred Meyer (which is the same company as Kroger)...and the generic versions of "I Can't Believe it's not Butter" are "Could it be butter?" and "Butter it's not".
