I used to work in a hotel as well as two of my room mates and it has come to our consensus that you don't really save money by using sites like expedia and priceline. In fact, you are actually better off to call the hotel in question and speak to a desk clerk.
I relate to my job now at Domino's. If you call the store, you get the specials. If you order online you pay regular price.
I had never heard of the W in union square, had to look it up...I want to go now, too! We should split a room!
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Now you just told me that friendship is all I'm forced to repair the breech in my wall Illusions and dreams, as usual, it seems Sabra girl, they've been my downfall
Maybe 5 years ago, I did priceline for a stay in NYC - we ended up staying at a St. Regis, which was awesome. Back then you were able to pick the area of town as well as the # of stars that was acceptable so it wasn't that scary. Although then our hotel was really nice but not near anything we wanted to do.

couchsurfing.com it's free!! as long as you dont mind staying with "soon-to-be" friends
Ah, a fellow couchsurfer! Awesome! I love that site, although I haven't been able to actually "surf" yet. I plan to this summer though!
Otherwise, try www.farechase.com, which is where I got my cheap airfare (it works for hotels too), maybe look into hostels, or try www.studentuniverse.com if you're a student.
