That being said, I am by no means an IT guy and know close to nothing about computers... That's just what I'd do in your situation

Are you using Windows? or MAC? If you're using Windows look for a directory named

C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[something].default\bookmarkbackups

There should be a file called bookmarks-[date].html

Try copying the one with the latest date to the C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[something].default directory and rename it to bookmarks.html

what error(s) is it giving you when it crashes?

try to grab a screenshot and post them up so i can see.
