I was listening to a little Phish on my Grateful Dead station on pandora today and I was wondering why they broke up. I tried googling and wiki'ing it but I couldn't find much. Anyone?

Pretty much the same reason Brett Favre retired actually. Read some of that interview, pretty cool, i was never a Phish fanatic but i'm not suprised Mike wanted to keep going, i always preferred him to Trey and found him to be a better musician.
I personally think that the boys would have stayed together if Trey wasn't the catalyst for the break up. Seems like he was getting bored with it, hence the not practicing for their final tour, hence forth they didn't sound too hot. I think once Trey gets his sh!t together, maybe tours again on his own, there's a chance they'll get back together.

.... and they'll sound better and tighter than you've ever heard them...
Ahh I see now. I thought Phish were alot older then they are. I was never really into them but I love the dead, I think I'm going to have to get some Phish in my life.
