Well this may not have anything to do with Bonnaroo, but after I read it I was totally excited, then read a bit further and was like blown away.It was the first I have heard of this.
What I am talking about is the deal with Peter Jackson. The lawsuit between him and NewLine Cinema concerning the rights to do "The Hobbit",movie.I read it in this months Game Informer magizine. It turns out that an agreement between them has been made and Jackson will be doing "The Hobbit". But thats not all! The guy who did Pan's Labyrinth has got something to do with this as well.A 5th LOTR movie preceding The Fellowship is in the works to.And theres really only one thing I can think of at this point which is "The Simarillion". Found in April 2008 GameInformer page 26 under EA's The White Council add.
As for the Hobbit, I think they worked out the details in December. Should be out in 2009, I think. I can't figure out what they mean by the 2nd movie or prequel. It can't be the Silmarillion. It could never be done in one movie.

Agreed. The Silmarillion is basically a compendium of the entire LOTR mythos... that's kinda like saying they're going to turn the Bible into a 3 hour movie.
That being said, focusing on one of the subsections of the book (say, Akallabêth, which culminates in battle seen at the start of the LOTR:FOTR) might work.. dunno.

Say thankya. I'm still not fricken done, back to reading at least 50 pages a day though, Wolves should be done this month. I read somewhere that showtime was gonna make it into a miniseries, i think that'd be the best way to do it.
I read the DT series as they came out - over a 17 year period. Kind of felt like a marriage ending when it was over after 17 years. Still think LOTR is much better but I've read everything King has written several times and the DT series is great.
