guitar.about.com/library/bl100greatest.htm Cool little list, obviously there will be disagreements, but still a fun bunch of songs to check out. I was disappointed to see so many Metallica songs on there and them leaving out Phantom Lord.
Got to agree on the Guitar Hero/Rock Band-like selection, but I'm sure that's no coincidence - they're all looking for same thing.
I can't disagree with much but I'm a little disappointed that it's so rock heavy with little alt influence. Surely John Squire deserves credit for I Am the Resurrection or Robert Smith for 10:15 on a Saturday Night?
"Know Your Enemy" would come before "Bulls" or "Killing" on my list of Tom's solo's but....I don't subscribe to Guitar World.... just Acoustic Guitar and Guitar Player...you know...the "Fan" mags.... - LOL!

How does Kurdt Kobain get 2 slots and Zappa only gets one (at No. 60 no less)? Not that I don't like Nirvana, but when I think bitchin, innovative guitar work Kurt would be at No. 60 and Zappa would have slots 1-20.
Seriously, Zappa released 6 LP's worth of nothing but guitar solos, not to mention the dozens of awesome solos on non guitar-solo albums. and he gets one entry while Metallica gets like 6. Oh well.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

This.
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai should be WAYYYYY up on this list.
a fairly decent list...as for favorite solo, kinda hard to pick one, but more than likely it would be anything by dimebag darrell (rest in peace, bro) of pantera...that dude could wail...and if youve heard any of his stuff, besides pantera and damageplan, you know that he wasnt only all about metal/hard rock
