I have a decent sized hole in my exhaust pipe before the muffler and was just planning on putting duct tape over it. You guys think this will be a good enough fix, or any other suggestions?

haha...zig, i hope, for your sake, that the car gods allow your ride to keep what dignity it has left and die already

This car better not die, if it did i'd have to bring it back to life and kill it myself. I don't want to pay to get my exhaust fixed, you don't even need n exhaust pipe!

well, then get in front of car that's smaller than yours(for safety reasons), then slam on your breaks so they end up in your trunk. PRESTO! you've got yourself some dough for a new car!!

Yeah, i was afraid of the heat troo, and was thinking about putting a can underneath it first, or getting that metallic tape. I think i'll check what they have at an autoshop first when i'm out. Its not really a big problem, its just loud.

Well Loud can get you pulled over and even get you a nuisance ticket. You should be able to get something fairly cheap though.
I, for one, am envious of your less-severe car problems. I fear my beloved Kevalier won't make it to 2009.
well - my van is sitting in the driveway and has been since October - AFTER sining $2,000 into it for new radiator and all kinds of other cooling issues - guess what? they did not fix the problem
Anyway - ziggy - just be careful with whatever you use - don't need the car catching on fire

Ouch, not what I like to hear. My car is suffering from cooling/radiator issues as well, although only about $400 has been sunk into it thus far. I need to take it back in and see if CarX is serious about this guarantee stuff, because I'm still leaking/overheating and it's not getting any better. This winter has been hell on my car. It's not the first thing I've had to have done with it this season, and back-burner work keeps building up. I lost the windshield washer hose and the ability to open the driver door & trunk with the... whatever you call the keychain clicky thing, too. At this point, I just want it to survive until graduation in two months.

yay - it really sucks - due to my cooling issues - I have a new radiator, new thermostat/temperature guage?, intake gasket, they had to rework the heads and it just goes on and on and on. They worked on it - I got it back - got a mile down the road and called themt o come get me - they supposedly fixed the problem and less then a month later - it overheated - when i checked the coolant - it was completely empty.
Oh well - will work on getting it fixed next week and then it is being sold.
Hope your problems are not that bad and that yor car lasts the 2 months you need it to!
That's just the bare minimum I need it for. I want it to last as long as it can, because it's my favorite car I've ever had... but I'll save those details for the inevitable eulogy thread.
ah, I have this same issue with my car. It's loud, too. I'm telling people that it's supposed to do that. Most don't believe me, but there are a few that do....
Duct tape will probably not work because, as Troo said, the adhesive won't withstand the heat. There is special tape that's made to go on exhaust pipes, but it may be a bit expensive because it's made with a special heat-withstanding adhesive. Good luck!
