yeah. so they gotta come out. went to the dentist today to get cleaning and get evaluated to see about them and sure enough one is completely sideways. looked wierd on the x-ray. should be fun to get done. probably not.
ooh yemalope....that sucks. i've only heard that it hurts badly considering that i haven't had to pull mine yet. ...i hate the dentist. i dread when i have appointments.

i had all 4 of mine pulled over spring break about 4 years ago. i was completely under the whole time, so i didn't feel a thing, and i actually healed up pretty quickly. never had problems with dry sockets or anything, but DO NOT USE A STRAW TO DRINK for a while, and DO NOT TRY TO EAT SOLID FOODS too soon. it can get stuck in the holes that are left behind, causing dry sockets.
if you do have any pain, i'm sure they'll give you some good druqs. i got a bottle of vicodin, and it came with 1 refill. i was set!
I've had only one removed, but it was relatively painless. The weirdest part was that the dentist actually straddled me while removing it, while his assistant held my head. That and the noise was the worst part...pain was minimal (and I have a low threshold for pain).

I had all 4 removed at once. Personally, I just took the novocain to numb the area, so i was awake and fully aware of what was happening... which didn't bother me too much except when I heard my teeth literally shattering in my mouth.
But the good side to this is that afterwards when I told him that it was hurting pretty bad they gave me some sweet meds! ;D ;D

before they got started on mine, i could hear a guy down the hall singing show tunes really loud. my mom and i were cracking up! when the dr. came in, he told us that it was his brother-in-law, and they had just gassed him...hahahahaha
Got all 4 of mine out 20 years ago. Was knocked out. No pain afterwards but a little stiff/sore. Went partying that nite and camping the next day. Saved my pain meds to enjoy when I felt better.

Bring an ipod, hopefully your dentist still believes in nitrous, mine did, me and the album wish you were here and i had a grand old time, i ended up getting a dry socket, which sucked, but probably my fault, I went out smoking and drinking right afterward, don't do that.

i had 4 removed. it wasn't too bad. actually, the worse part was the after effects from the anesthesia. it made me sick and nauseous, and i actually wound up passing out when i got home due to it.
i had all 4 of mine removed. dont remember it actually happening... but i was in a lot of pain after. i was so drugged up for the next 3 days. eating for the next week or two sucked real bad.

I think that YMMV on the wisdom teeth thing. I had mine out about 3 years ago...all 4 at the same time. They put me under, which was nice. Actually, I was really nervous because they took me into this room before the surgery and were like, "Here are all the bad things that might happen to you that we're legally required to tell you about." Which scared the you know what out of me, then they took me back to the procedure room. I was REALLY REALLY nervous, especially because I had never been under sedation, so I kept talking and talking (which is what I do when I'm nervous). Next thing I know, the nurse says to me, "Here sweetie, this will make you feel better," and puts a big ol' shot of valium into my IV. Needless to say, I don't remember much after that! After the surgery, I came out of the anesthesia crying, which apparently is pretty normal. Freaked my mom out though!
They gave me some pain meds, which I didn't even take all of. I actually went to watch my little brother's HS band play at a football game that night, and was back at work/school/dancing on Monday, when I had them out on Friday.
I've heard horror stories though! I freaked out about dry socket so I took extra care not to do anything that might cause it. STAY AWAY FROM STRAWS!
I had all four removed at once and was knocked out cold for it. Like bamadancer, I also woke up crying, which freaked me out.
The next day I was starting to feel better and went Ross with my sister - big mistake even though I wasn't driving. I just didn't have the strength to be not lying down for that long. So we went straight home. I was fine the next day.
I only had 3, and one was a microtooth... it was tiny! My bottom two were sideways like yours. When I called to make the appointment they asked if I wanted to be awake or asleep... I didn't know there was a choice! Asleep of course!
My mom waited with my brother in the waiting room. My brother was only about 3 at the time. When I woke up all disoriented with a mouth full of bloody gauze I tried to give my bro a hug. I scared the poor kid half to death. I must have looked like a zombie!
Anyway, I was actually at home recovering when the 9-11 attacks occurred. I don't think the pain was that bad. I ate a lot of tomato soup, took my meds, and slept a lot. I even smoked, although it was very gently. It's not as bad as I thought. After about 3 days, I was all better.
Good luck. Oh, if you want to keep your teeth, ask beforehand. I asked afterwards and they had already thrown them away.
I had all four of mine taken out senior year of high school.
Dentist gave me a valium to take an hour before my appointment. I sat home and flipped channels while I waited to go. I had no idea Teletubbies could be so awesome. I don't really remember anything between being in the waiting room and waking up while they were sewing up the holes in my gums. I got Vicodin for the pain after that. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to drink in tandem with the meds - and I'd gotten them pulled the day before New Year's. That was a letdown. But I still managed to enjoy a foot-long corn cob pipe with no socket problems whatsoever.
Like someone said... YMMV. I think I was just extremely lucky.

I have had 8 of my teeth pulled 4 when I was younger when I as awake, and my 4 wisdoms surgically. I waited to long to get my wisdoms pulled, and one of them crushed my other tooth and it started t decay, nd I had to get a root canal, and a golden crown on my molar. Its not bad if you go the right dentists and have insurance, otherwise... good luck. When i was in the chair to get my wisdoms pulled i was talking to the nurse after they put in the iv, and i saw her pull out a needle. I asked if that was what was gonna knock me out, and she said what do you think? Then she put it in the iv and I dont remember anything after that until I woke up. I was out in like 2 seconds after the needle.
Haha I had fun. I got laughing gas the whole time it was great, then a week off school accompanied by vicodin and lots of dextromethorphan and world of warcraft. good times
I thought the IV to knock you out was the worst part, of course I hate needles. It makes your arm ice cold and I was begging to go to sleep faster. I remember the doctor came in there and I was trying so hard to fall asleep. I finally did when they put something over my eyes. After that, the only pain came with trying to chew. I ate a lot of apple sauce that week and the hyrdos they gave me made me do and say strange things....

i once had to get morphine via IV in the ER. it stings when it goes in, and then it makes your arm itch so you feel like a crack head

dilaudid (I think) and you should have said something to them - they will then give you benedryl on top of all the other meds but it makes the itching stop

i was so worn out from the pain i'd been in for the last 3 hours or so, that i really didn't care at that point. and i was about to go into surgery, so i was gonna be knocked out for a while anyway.

your probably right i should have said something but i was ahhh a lITTLEE out of it - plus the ER was ridiculous - i was literally on a bed in a hallway next to me was a homeless man screaming in pain and the other side of me was someone else screaming in pain. the NYC ERs are quite entertaining. too bad i dont remember much of it ???

yeah...i think NYC ER's would scare me
i had to get a sonogram because i had/have fibroid tumors. after the sonogram the guy put me in the hall and told me a nurse would be right back to get me. i waited a good 20 minutes in horrific pain(this was prior to the morphine), and no one came until a younger nurse came running down the hall apologizing the whole way.
