I'm sorry that this is gonna be long and complicated... but this whole situation is long and complicated...
so in 7th-8th grade i had this best friend, we'll call her Sara. We were inseperable, until the beginning of 9th grade.... i got a boyfriend and there was total drama. I dont want to go into things too much, but basically Sara thought were were together (she came out at the end of 8th grade). She basically had a huge crush on me and convinced herself that we were together and all this other crap... and when i started going out with my bf, she was devastated and broke our friendship.
3 years later, the summer before i became a senior in HS, we became friends again. I never knew why she broke the friendship in the first place (she refused to talk to my for 3 damn years!) and it finally came out when she became friends with my bf first. We decided to put everything beside us again and became best friends for the remainder of HS and our first year of college. She told me that what she did was so stupid and she would never do that again and she was so happy that we were friends again.
In the second half of my first year of college, i kinda had a crisis. i basically left my boyfriend, left my friends and my family and moved across the country for 4 months. I didnt tell anyone. It was a really stupid move, and when I came back home i was totally alone. All my friends, including Sara refused to see or talk to me, no matter how much i begged and apologized, and I just sorta moved on and started my life again.
so fast forward two years later, im a junior in college. Sara randomly sends me a message saying that we should get coffee or something. I agree but we never really make plans. I did invite her to my birthday party and she came. It was awkward and i cant believe she actually showed up. When she left, I told her we should hang out soon, but nothing ever came of it...
So another year has gone by.. my birthday just passed 2 weeks ago and she wished me happy birthday on my facebook. Ever since then ive been trying to decide if i should contact her again.
Honestly, I really dont want to hurt her again, but mostly I dont want to have to go through losing my best friend a third time. But i enjoy her company. And we had a ton of fun together. i just dont know what to do.
