Hey man, sorry to hear. I remember when my first dog had to be put down, I feel even worse about it for my dad because he had to do it, he had that dog longer then me.
I dedicate this next one to you and your pup, dogs by pink floyd.
Sorry to hear about your loss. My dog passed away about a year and a half ago, so I know what it's like. People who don't have pets don't really understand how you can get so attached, but they really do become an important member of your family. That's the worst thing about pets - you always outlive them. There's something about them, they're just so innocent and always trying to please their owners.
First let me say thanks a LOT for your support during this hard time. It meant and means a lot (Inforoosters are such great people!)
But I am posting today with some good news. The dog we all thought had died, walked out of the woods yesterday morning. It had been 18 days and he was very, very emaciated and seemed mildly confused but he’s back.
I’ve had many dogs and lost a few by disappearance before. I’ve had dogs disappear for days or even a week if a neighbor dog is in heat. But NEVER 18 days. Especially Scrappy. He is a very old dog who never wanders far.
I waited until today to post so I could make sure he was going to live. He was so weak and confused, I was afraid he might still die. But today, while still very weak he is acting his old self, even going on walks with us. He seems to have lost some of his hearing and sight due to starvation but his attitude is still happy Scrappy. He’s a little more clingy than normal too. Must have been a tough couple weeks.
Needless to say we are ecstatic at this small miracle. I thought it only proper to share the news with you.
Again, thanks you so much. I’m now going out to pet my dog (and pet him and pet him and pet him…) Come to think of it, maybe I’m a bit more clingy now too. ;D
Doing GREAT! Pretty much back to normal, chasing rabbits and squirrels. His sight is back but his hearing is still bad. And he's more affectionate and sticks a little closer to the house. Still eats like he's ravenous but has put back on about half the lost weight.
