West Indian Girl is an amazing band, and really cool peeps I'm proud to call friends. Their sound is best described as "like a summer night with no clouds" Here is Rolling Stone's review of their debut album:
West Indian Girl - West Indian Girl (Astralwerks) At best, debut albums are often promising collections that hint at a band's potential. Then, every once in a while, a band comes out of leftfield and nails it on its first try. Such is the case here. This collection of sweepingly, sun-drenched sonic pop is one part early U2, one-part Jane's Addiction, one-part Electric Skychurch and 100 percent Southern California. Processed guitars, cascading keys and blissful melodies contribute to the starry, ascending quality of the record, while analog synths and melancholy harmonies keep the tunes from straying too far into a world of pretty irrelevance. Naming themselves after an intense strain of LSD, West Indian Girl's affinity for altered states is apparent throughout: "Slow down/You'll be alright/It's summertime/Let's trip tonight" goes the aptly titled opener "Trip." And while their lyrics aren't exactly inspired prose, this is a stunningly psychedelic first effort -- and hopefully one the band will be able to live up to.
The Oklahoma based Mints are composed of four eccentric artists who came together in the early 90’s to create a unique sound that is heavily instrumental, infectious in melody, high on cheeky vocals, lyrically whimsical, and nothing short of utterly catchy. Allan Vest (vocals/guitar), Marian Love Nunez (keyboards), Javier Gonzales (bass), and Andy Nunez (drums) also throw in a menagerie of other sound effects to create a surreal, dreamlike quality to their complex and continually perplexing sound. Church bells, horns, violin, tambourine, triangle, synths, and sound effects accompany their already fantastic juxtaposition for a vivid Utopian sound experience.
my dudes band, id describe them as rock i guess, and they do rock, if your anywhere near cincy you should hit up a show. and supposivley the new tracks with be up there soon

They want to change their name, but can't decide on anything good so it just keeps changing. The lead singer, John Krane, has a solo album that is also very good. Both are available on iTunes.
These guys are great. Ian, the lead singer is like a beat poet. He's awesome. The band is fun, friendly, and upbeat. It's almost summer which means these guys will be home from school soon and playing lots of shows. A special note: Their most recent album, "Live at the Drive Through" was recorded and mixed by my fiance :-)
One time voted the best jam band by the Riverfront Times. Kim's voice is amazing, reminiscient of Janis Joplin, but even better, I'd say. These guys play every month at my favorite local venue.
