Hmm, ok. It seems there are a lot of folks that pull stunts like that but I've never seen that "warning" level before... is this going to become commonplace?

I am curious as well, also I think it is pretty damn petty of "God" to come in here once a month not read much of what is going on, and then randomly assign punishments. If "God" was here enough to be justified in handing out warning levels he would have known giving one to BM for what he did is ridiculous, and he could have done it to some of the people who have needed it. Of course I will probably get one now.........

What percentage would you like? ;D
How do you know he is not on here often? You can't see him most of the time.

I'm kinda curious. Am I used as an example? I would love that, as that's what I was going for. Double accounts shouldn't be created. And I know I was wrong with pointing that out by doing it myself, but then we got to this discussion..

Manders created a duplicate account. He's generally not a problem on the boards and hasn't caused any drama/trouble and claimed to be doing it to help so that is taken into consideration. Also, I believe he's involved in some running contests.
So rather then ban him for a small, first time offense (that he admitted to immediately and apologized for) I discussed with other mods what should happen to him. It was decided to give him a "10% warning level". It really isn't that big of a deal at all and I thought it was fine. It just lets him know he broke a rule.
The "warning system" is just an old system that wasn't used as much lately. It's a way to have consequences for something relatively minor.
Right... but I know Manders isn't the only person to create a double account. So he is being used as an example? Seriously, I'm just curious.
Not so much being used as an example. It's more just of a slap on the wrist for him. If a random poster that nobody knows comes here with duplicate accounts and continually tries to mess with people and spread false info....then they'll likely be banned or suspended.
Manders has built up some good will with his posting activity on here and most of us know him and know he's not really trying to ruin anyone's time or maliciously screw with people. When we discussed what to do about this there were multiple people who stated that they felt Manders was an okay guy and a ban wasn't really necessary for this.
But something had to be done. So he got a warning.

That's not exactly how it went down. He didn't just show up and randomly assign the punishment. Actually, it was more like myself and one or two others weren't sure how to punish him since we thought a ban/suspension was too much but letting him off the hook completely isn't always good so then it was suggested to give him a warning which hasn't been used in a while.
I'm not sure how "commonplace" this type of thing will become. Things are usually taken on a case by case basis and a few different factors come into play.
I just viewed it as a slap on the wrists. Didn't realize it was cause so much commotion lol
Thanks for explaining, ITM. I didn't mean to make a commotion out of it; I was curious because I can't remember a time when that system has been used since I joined.

Me neither. I don't remember seeing it used. But it's just something that hasn't been used in a long time or very often apparently. A function that seemed useful in this scenario I guess.
I spend a lot of time here, reading, organizing, and coordinating. I don't post too often but I'm here rather frequently.
One thing we've tried hard not to is having double standards, when people break our rules we don't want to let someone slide because we know or like them. If we do this we'll lose control entirely. Mr.Manders committed a pretty serious violation, but we didn't feel it right to suspend or ban him. So we used the warning level, something we have used in years past but recently haven't needed because misbehavior didn't often come from known and respected members of the board. Expect to see more use of warning levels for violations that don't merit suspension or a ban but are more serious than something that would normally prompt only a "pep talk" from a moderator. I'm here if you have any more questions.
I know this have probably been brought up before and I don't know if it is even possible. Is there any to have a keyword search on the board for threads? It might be a stupid question but Im pretty stupid when it comes to a lot of computer related skills.
A little late to the party but google can also be useful. Use site:bonnaroo.proboards.com as a tage after your search terms. For instance if you were searching for cheap tarps you would type the following in google: cheap tarps site:bonnaroo.proboards.com and then you would only get results from Inforoo™

I'm astonished that I've never gotten one. I'd like to thank the mods for further validating me by branding my actions as completely acceptable.
