Due some recent changes on Proboards' backend, the Like/Dislike system took a dive. I've implemented a work around, and it appears to be functioning properly. If anyone notices any new weirdness, just give us a shout.
Just a thought. Why don't you require noobs who register to read something about the forum's policies before their account is activated or something like that? It could even be as simple as a bulleted set of guidelines (I.e. google what you seek with the word inforoo in it first) and then have a check box at the bottom that they read it. OR of you want to get fancy, you can have a really basic/simple multiple choice questionnaire at the end to make sure they actually read it.

This was actually a topic of discussion a few months ago. I think it started in the Coachella thread then spawned a thread of its own which got locked due to people being inappropriate. Long story short. That's where fawnmart's welcome to inforoo thread came from which has all the basics.

Think of it as Terms & Conditions. Does anyone actually read them? Of course not. While having something (like Juggs' letter) that the noobs are "forced" to read is a good idea in theory, there's nothing forcing them to actually read it. Scroll, scroll, scroll, check off the "I've read..." box, and you're on to the next screen.
It's best to just remember we were all noobs once and just bear with the new folks. It's really not that big a deal, except in pre-lineup mode where people just leak brain matter onto their keyboards and we get 600 threads on Thursday Headliners or something.

What Flanzo said.
Honestly the best thing to do is if most of our active posters have the two "introduction" threads bookmarked are know where to find them. Then, if a new poster is doing something that most of us know isn't allowed or isn't liked then they can post the links and suggest the new member read them first.
What about my multiple choice questionnaire idea? Can you talk about Drukqs, yes/no? If you dont see your thread where do you look? (a) google (b) under a rock (c) in your closet. If you put just a few of these that address the most important/common issues with noobs, I bet it would work.
all i think this forum needs is a GOOGLE SEARCH BOX it shouldn't be too hard to add, someone could have suggested this, but to be honest i did not read any of this thread. i just wanted to contribute to this community and i feel the only thing lacking in this site is a proper search function.

We used to have one. Not sure what happened to it. Gonna check on this!

thanks! maybe put it on top though so people can see it?
Question is, like it better on top? When the search results are displayed you have to scroll down or click the 'X' (to clear the search) to get back to the threads.
i like it better on top personally. the fact that it opens a new tab i could do without, i like to keep as few tabs open as possible, but if this is what everyone prefers you can leave it, it doesn't bother me too much. my suggestion would be that after doing a search and clicking the thread you want, it opens in the same window sans search results, thus eliminating having to click the "x" as well.
One thing I would suggest is to clean up the stickied threads at the tops of the different forums. Most forums you're used to seeing the most recent posts at the top, but in the What forum you have 7 announcements, a visual border that separates them from the "active" threads, but then you have 7 more stickies. It doesn't make it unusable, just isn't as visually pleasing. Plus 14 stickies is pretty nuts, couldn't some be consolidated?

I agree. I've already unsticky'd a few things that don't need to be there anymore (QSAROO Voting reminder, 2012 countdown thread, etc.).
We'll work on cleaning the rest up and consolidating.
Can one of the Admins delete the user account that is just noage (not noage123). I created it years ago and have no idea what the password is. People keep messaging me on that account and I can't get into it. Thanks!

100% sure? I can delete it.
I'm sure. Just make sure it's not the one I use on the regular.
