Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Well, all of the things you have deemed 'obscene' or worthy of being filtered are many of the same things the Christian community frowns upon. - those things scream 'Christian' ideals.
I am a Pagan, does that mean I have no ideals? Can I not be offended?
It's not strictly a black and white issue. There's a whole lot of gray. We're pretty tolerant here for the most part. There are threads to talk about sexually explicit things and it has been discussed in those threads with no warnings given(Mingle and Sex threads). Once again, I don't think it's right to spread that kind of talk all over the board. When it happens, we try to reign it in. Not everything is gonna get you banned. We aren't Nazis here, although some have inferred as much at times. It's a case by case basis. But if you follow the guidelines I posted before, you'll be fine. If you have a question, and you really think something is "obscene", go ahead and PM one or all of the mods. We'd really appreciate it.

Dan, buddy, did Bonnaroo come early for you? Because you are really dancing around my questions.
And you don't think that the 'Analrapist' (despite being a hilarious AD reference) in your signature falls into the "rape" jokes you mentioned as being offensive?
I'm answering things in general terms here. I'm not gonna go into things more specifically other than what I posted before. That's as specific as I'm gonna get. Otherwise this discussion goes on forever and ever. There really is no end to a question like, what is moral, or what is obscene. It can be debated forever. So like I said, if you have a specific question about something someone has posted, or anything pertaining to what is obscene on here, PM us, and we'll answer it to the best of our abilities. Thanks.
And if anyone really finds my youtube screen name offensive, I'll take the link down.

Totally off-topic, but have you heard of Foamhenge? We're stopping on our way to 'Roo. I'm embarrassed to admit how excited I am about it.

So, in other words, toofast was right when he said you guys didn't have to answer my questions.
And basically, things are offensive once someone complains about them.
We can never answer questions thoroughly enough for everyone. I will answer your specific questions through PM. You can stop cherry picking my words now.
We have our standards on the board. Sometimes people complaining can trigger the standards to tighten, sometimes not. Sometimes no one has to complain. The rules are there for everyone to see. It's REALLY not that hard to understand.

Why is this so hard to figure out?? Don't post pictures of drogas, or the plants that drogas derive from, and don't write erotic posts making areas of this board look like craigslist without a pricetag and you'll be fine.
Why is this just now coming up?
Oh yeah, because somebody did both of those. Go figure...
So, it was decided a long time ago that we should censor what someone else has deemed 'obscene'. Are we not allowed to change that? It seems like a large portion of this community is discontent. While I am aware this is no democracy, I do think the Moderators have an obligation to heed the will of the general population. Isn't it possible to change the rules, if that is what the people want?
So, why (or perhaps how) did you decide what was offensive and what wasn't? And why is it that my view of what is offensive isn't counted? What motivated the decision to censor this board, even though that is the antithesis of the Bonnaroo spirit?
I don't mean to seem rude, and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I just am not understanding this; and frankly, I think you agree with a lot of what I'm saying but feel as if your hands are tied on the matter.
i always thought the point was to avoid any potential controversy...
but now that bonnaroo has their own forum, and from what i saw last year, it's a free for all - i have to wonder about the value of this decision.
on the other hand, im not all that impressed by tons of porno and no no word pictures or just excessive swearing (which is odd, since i curse like a sailor irl). it doesnt offend me, but it could lead to inforoo being banned at work. and i didnt get to be over 3k posts by not reading at work
edit: foamhenge looks awesome!

Stopped there on the way down in 2007... actually met a few other Roo'ers while we were there... it had poured all day, the hill was SUPER slippery muddy red sludge, and our sandals legs feet and the floor of my car got filthy 500 miles before I even got to Bonnaroo ... anyways,

Foamhenge is going to be so great. I love the guy's sense of humor, plus he (Mark Cline) has two more installations in the area. Dinosaur Kingdom basically presents a world where dinosaurs roamed the earth during the Civil War and features a forest sprinkled with life size sculptures of dinosaurs chowing down on soldiers and civilians alike. Then there is his studio, which is set up like a haunted house - Professor Cline's Haunted Mansion and Monster Museum. All three are in the Natural Bridge area, easy access for anyone coming down 81.

fact of the matter is this msg board was created by someone, and that someone has rules, and we should be happy that this place exists in the first place....
