It should be extremely easy in the "Preview" mode when posting. Just drag the top corner down.
I tried this method. All it does for me is to highlight the image. I am assuming I could move it around within the post if I had text written in there as well, but I am not seeing how to affect the size in any way.
I knew about the max width thing, but I like defining it by pixels. Posting things 500x500 makes me sad.
then after you preview mode, go back to bbcode and change "style="max-width:100%;" to adjust the "style="max-width:##px;" where ## is the desired pixels you want.
Just grab the image from a corner and stretch it or draw it down in preview mode. If it's not a perfect square, you can grab the image from the side to push it in or ahem pull it out. It will even tell you what dimensions you're shrinking/expanding it to.
Edit - you have to click somewhere inside the image first, and then little squares appear at compass points around the image where you can resize from.
The only thing that happens when I click an image in preview mode is a cursor starts blinking to the immediate right of the image that corresponds with the height of the image. Weird.

This. Try clicking on the image first and then you'll see the squares you can grab. If you can't figure it out by tonight I can make a quick screencast to show exactly how much.
Also, the second method should work if you change "100%" to "400px" but I haven't tested that out yet. But that's just the width

Hmmm.....I'll try to make a video showing how I do it later. If you can't replicate it in Firefox or Chrome then we'll have to dig a little deeper.

I am using Chrome here. I will check it out later on tonight maybe. It doesn't bother me to put in the code directly. It was more curiousty causing me to ask.
You may have been through this already, but here's an example of an image I got to post - this is what an image looks like without specifying dimensions outside the original:
So you can manually type in the 600 at the beginning for width and at the end for height, so this is what it looked like after I changed the size:
Flip to bbcode and see the difference - kind of a pain, but can be done.

It's gotten so bad lately that there hasn't even been a breath of any T.I.N canidates in like, 2 years? And I see nothing wrong with eating the younger, idiotic members of these forms. They appear to be soulless, lesser beings than us. No different than livestock if you ask me.

God damnittttt, I've got so many of the traits that contribute to being an awful inforooster, but I somehow defy the odds!! You know I get hounded for being a Floridian often when I'm so used to it that I try to defend myself against it by default when it isn't even mentioned!
