why not instead of having a bonnaroo board and a vegoose board, why not just have a bonnaroo section, a vegoose section, and a general section. and maybe later add a wakarusa section., all good, 10klf... ect.
that's a good idea, considering it's most of the same people going to the same festivals. I haven't registered for the Vegoose board because I'm not going and I don't plan on spending much time on those boards. It'd be nice if I could post a message here and there though..
it was an idea that was considered, even preferred. however with 1800+ members on inforoo we were concerned about overloading the server. it was decided that this was the best way to go about it to prevent connection problems.
The problem isn't amount of users. It's the amount of users posting at the same time. We all wanted one board but due to the fact that we don't own the board we can't expand the bandwidth to it. So we had to set up seperate boards to help. It's not the perfect solution but it works. Not well but it works. There will be another board up when I get the time to polish it up. Work is killing me at the moment.
This is really the only interactive resource to inquire about the Bonnaroo festival (outside of the listserv clusterf*ck) so it's really only a problem during Roo season -- otherwise, things are fairly quiet and steady around here. In retrospect, maybe the distance between Vegoose and Roo would prevent a traffic jam, but whatever -- nobody's going to die over the decision.

Well, I think you wouldn't have much of a problem. Vegoose and Bonnaroo are at completely different times of the year, so you wouldn't get much of a one-two punch effect.

This is true but if other fests are added it could be a traffic problem as it's getting to the point of about one every weekend. I think separate boards make the most sense but could there be an option of multiple board signup with one ID and password?
i think the combined board would be alot better, if proboards isnt up to the task why not just move it to another server that can give enough bandwith and set up adsense to pay for it. it would be better and you might as well get the ad revenue instead of proboards.
