My name is Rain and I am the Director of Kidz Jam, a non-profit organization that provides the children's area at Bonnaroo. At Kidz Jam, not only do we educate the parents about hearing/stranger safety, we also teach the kids about the importance of music, recycling, and what making friends at a festival is all about.
What you may not know is that children under a certain age do not buy a ticket for Bonnaroo. Therefore, these ages do not get counted, and are lost in the numbers. At Kidz Jam, we run a survey each year of how many kids attended, their ages, and where they came from. Last year, there were close to 500 children that attended Bonnaroo. These are only the ones that we were able to document. This means that there are many more that weren't documented out of the close to 100,000 attendees.
This year, due to our efforts to provide a voice for the family community attending Bonnaroo, there will most likely be a family camping area. The attendance of families has risen at Bonnaroo, and will continue to rise as we all get older and start trying to show our own children the importance of enjoying music and art in a responsible manner.
What I would like to propose at Inforoo is a seperate message board for families to connect and post to each other, anticipating the long and complicated event. In this way, better planning and advice can be given to first-timer families.
Families who are responsible have an understanding that a festival can be a place full of social learning and musical discovery if presented and handled right by the parents. If we would like to see more responsible families attending festivals, then we need to start by offering them the best preperation possible.

They have family camping at hookahville, although sometimes you get people who camp there anyways, it is definatly much more chill then the rest of the camping.
