Ummm, you live in NYC right?? I think I know which 911 system they have.....I don't think you'd have anything to worry about....only if you actually WANTED them to respond.....THEN you'd want to start worrying....
Actually, I live 4 blocks south of Grand Street, so you are right... yet the precinct is right down the block... ??? I live surrounded by good Puerto Rican families, yet the cops form this kind of barricade at Grand, to protect the (pretty much) trust fund hippster, North of Grand Street, kids who claim to be artists, but work on Wall Street. (not that you can't do both, but there's a hell of a lot of them... Me and my roomate actually have to lie to delivery men to get them to come here... and then they get here and are pissed, yet the unaffordable empty condos continue to go up all around as the people get pushed out... I hate that about NY, and always wonder, who are these people, and how can they afford it?
All I know, is i never feel unsafe in my neighborhood

Yeah...I worked in DC for a while...never actually lived there (though it felt like it!) but was there A LOT! DC is a lot like that....most major cities are I have found. You'll see these beautiful restored row houses (townhouses) and then not even a half block away the SAME houses look like they haven't been touched in 30-50 years.....sad really. It's like you go half a block in any city and it's like there are completely different cities. Not neighborhoods - cities. Two blocks off Dupont Circle in DC are places you wouldn't want to be after sunset....very sad. Having worked with the 911 center in DC, I know what the city is like after all the commuters leave.....other than Dupont, Georgetown and Crystal City....it's not a pleasant place except for pockets here and there.....but there are so many good people there. But I also see how the police and fire depts respond....out of habit and bad experiences.....and sadly out of sterotypes. And having worked in a lot of cities.....it's not just a racist thing....it's the same cultures discriminating against their own...esp in neighborhoods that they don't approve of and think that they give their own culture a "Bad Image".....course I consider that just as racist as someone from another culture doing the same thing....

I'd be sad if the smurfs shrunk anymore than they already are... i mean they are only 3 apples high in the first place, how small should they be expected to get?
Well im sorry, i wasnt trying to be a dick, just making a simple suggestion. The smurfs are cool, but you have to admit that part of the picture could be cropped out, right?
Well....IF the mods are interested I may have a solution to make everyone - if not happy then at least relatively content....
I have a javascript that I implemented on InfoVooDoo ("borrowed" from elsewhere) that adds an option to the users' profiles to display/not display images in sigs.....there is already an option to display/not ALL images on the boards. This one would only apply to sig blocks. The only catch is that it is cookie based which means when you clear your cookies, it defaults back to displaying the images and you have to reset..... But it works....I tested it on InfoVooDoo first ;D
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

hmmm i dont think anyone is bullying anyone. i just dont think you should expect the entire board to change just cuz your connection speed is slow. sorrrrrry. *and yes i realize that other ppl also dont love the sig images either.
Hey, I resemble that post whore remark Anyways....maybe all the people who have slow connections and/or who don't like the images displayed should start spamming the mods with PMS to implement the sig display option? ???
LOL! Bunny's right, I did mean resemble! I embrace my inner post whore No sense fighting who I am....sigh

Click 'profile' on the tab up top. Then, click 'modify profile'. On that page, there should be an option under 'account preferences' where you can choose to hide signatures.
