big wu was the first band to play at bonnaroo. i saw them at harvest jam this year. it was a good show. i dont think there was a thousand people at harvest jam. and they had particle and tea leaf green doing latenights. great shows. i love the small festival feel. you see the same people everywhere. its great.

I miss the first Bonnaroo, been every year since. I would really like to hit up a bunch of these small, relatively cheap fests this year if I can make it work.
And yeah, I am going to be listening to many of Mr Blotto's shows in the next few days. I had to stop listening to the one from Blottopia VII for a quick interlude because I found one with Liz Reed on it and damn is the Liz Reed good!

Can anyone tell me if there are any 10klf message boards out there. I'm sure there must be, but a quick internet search hasn't panned out. Lineup looks good and I'm sure it will get even better. I'd love to go, but there are some ?'s I would like to ask b4 buying tickets. Such as which campground is the best and why? Any help would be appreciated.
Northwoods is the best cause its on the same side of the road as the venue area with all the stages... Theres this cool concrete tunnel that goes under the road and leads to the rest of the campgrounds and vendors on the other side... Northwoods and Lake Sallie are the places to be... They should have the map up somewhere when tix go on sale.. The good campgrounds, closer to the stages will sell out quicker...
I dont remember the name but there is one camp kind of behind the main stage to the right around the outside of the venue which is a longer walk and is field camping as opposed to nice shade and wooded camping like most of 10klf... Hope i could help a bit...
yep.... pretty much the same as roo. wed. is like thurs. at roo the music stops around 12. the rest of the nights have latenights. heres a link to last years schedule so you can see set lengths and latenights and whatnot. www.jambase.com/festivals/10klf/

I think I'm gonna hafta skip Roo this year. First time in three years. 80,000 (feels like 280,000) people all at the Police show. Of course no one else will get to play in that time slot. (Like Petty & Radiohead last year) Planning on goin' to the High Sierra Music Festival in California instead. Lots closer to home. Plus the Giants are playing the Red Sox that weekend so I'll be there.
they had music playing during radiohead and petty last year. i really wanted to see art vandalay and tishamingo who played during radiohead.. but im glad i went to radiohead instead!
and if you werent into petty you could have went to bobby bare jr. samantha stollenwerck
and the preservation jam hall was going for part of bothe radiohead and tom petty.

Will they be adding anymore somewhat big names to the bill or no???? And also, anyone know anything about VIP here?? The VIP crash pad looked pretty chill, but I have never been to this fest before so really am not sure on how it is set up and stuff. Appreciate any knowledge that anyone may have! Oh yea, and does this fest sell out??
i havent been but the vip seems like a pretty good deal. i dont think it sells out very fast. but the better campgrounds do sell out quicker. and there is more announcements to come. im betting some big names are left to come.
Come on, how bout some chatter, or is ther another board up for this fest? I really want to got this and want to hear from others about it....who have been and those who are going...?

Though it won't be as bad for you, being from Florida and all, it's worth noting that at least half of the 10klf lineup is comprised of local MN/Wisco/Iowa/Ill bands that can be seen at bars for free or sub-5 dollar covers.
But, since you probably haven't had many chances to see more than a few of these bands in your area, it's also worth noting that many of the bands are quite awesome.

I wouldn't mind going just for the atmosphere. It doesn't get incredibly hot in Minnesota, and it's absolutely beautiful at night, plus I have friends that live up there. It's definitely a possibility for me.

I wanna make it happen, problem is I just cant get anyone that is willing to make that strong of a committment. That is a long trip to try and pull off solo. I found a round trip ticket from here in Fla to minneapolis for $201 not to damn bad at all. Who knows? i will prob just wait and see what additions are added?

I wish I lived closer to Eastern/Southeastern US, that's where all the kickass festivals are..(well there are good bluegrass festivals in Colorado too, but that's besides the point) I would love to attempt a Langerado, Wanee, Bonnaroo, All Good, 10klf cannonball.
i just signed up. you werent kidding about needing people. im number 4 ;D hope it takes off though. i need more ways to waste time with my music festival addiction!

I love 10klf! I wouldn't miss it. This will be my fourth year there. The festival grounds are so nice. There are plenty of trees and last year there was disc golf. The weather is usually nice this time of year. Remember to bring a jacket or sweatshirt. It does get chilly at night.

my original summer plan was to go to 10klf but i have a family obligation that weekend so had to pull out. the main reason why I was choosing it over roo, was the fact that it was on the water and it seemed like it was a slightly calmer atmosphere. I loved in the pictures how people were camping in and out of the woods which would have been nice for me to set up my hammock. I'm stoked I chose roo though, almost into the double digits on the countdown!

The atmosphere is super chill. There are lots of kind people. Lots of great camping. There are tons of trees. There is a lake right by the camping so you can take a dip. The weather is usually nice. There is even disc golf! It is a bit of a hike if you camp in blue ox or viking but Lake Sallie and Northwoods are close by. If you camp in Lake Sallie you get to walk through a neato tunnel under the road. This fest has a great vibe*~
Hey now! Been lurking here at inforoo forever...thought I'd finally sign up and share my opinion on this for what its worth.
I had a blast last year at 10klf and would love to return, but when/if I do I will definitely NOT buy VIP again. There were plenty of GA campers visible on both sides of the venue that were camped much closer than I was in my VIP spot...The VIP showers were inside the venue, so a shower required not only a long walk, but also a wait in the security lines with your towel and toiletries (the GA campgrounds have showers right in the campground. what a concept!)...the meals provided weren't great and were the same each day - cold cuts, potato salad, etc for lunch and hamburgers/hot dogs for dinner. Instead of a buffet style thing that was always there, they offered only a 2-hour window for each meal (causing huge lines almost the whole time) and it was once only through the line.
The chairs they gave were nice and the reserved viewing area for the main stage was nice too but not worth the extra $$ imo.
I've gone to roo VIP the past three years and wouldn't ever go back to GA there. Perhaps the spoiling in Manchester is why I was so disappointed in MN. This being my first post ;D I hope it's not coming across too negative. By all means, go to 10klf everyone who can!!!! It's a fabulous festival at a fabulous site, but if you're considering VIP, I say save that money for something you'll enjoy more.
