Just got the presale info for Coachella and the password is, ahem, a certain song title by the Police. A certain early song title by the Police. Or a movie with Steve Martin.
Also if you type the word "police" into the coachella baord it shows up as ******, same with the words "presale" and "password" Also filtered is the word "machine" so presumably RATM are also headlining. And the word "in" - go figure on that one.
Just got a PM from the mod at the Coachella board, she says they picked that password just as a wind-up. I've known her for a while and she may just be telling me the truth...
I think that's what he means. It doesn't really make sense, though, why would they f*ck with their own fans? I would think you wouldn't want to get people's hopes up before smashing them down.
I don't think Rage and Police could play the same festival, too much bank. When's the lineup out anyways?
Here's a problem with the theory followed by a support of it:
- The Police already turned down Coachella once (last year) and supposedly it was not on good terms - BUT-- the "Machine" may not be referring to RATM. It could be the early Police album, "Ghost in the Machine"

Alls I know is they're fired up over there about the prospect of The Police headlining. And watching all the animosity back and forth on their boards, I'm not surprised the mods would do something like use passwords as red herrings.
But one other thing perhaps worth mentioning, that I read this in one of the threads over there:
"emily haines
i talked to her after her vancouver show and i as ked her she said she might play
and she didint tell me who but she said the headliner was " mind blowing"
Assuming that other artists actually do have inside info on the rest of the lineup, I think The Police would warrant Haines to say "mind blowing". Just a thought.
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Guitarist Tom Morello takes the mic for the first time on "One Man Revolution," his debut album as the Nightwatchman. Due April 24 via Epic, the 13-track set was produced by Brendan O'Brien and sports acoustic-based compositions that are a far cry from the heavy guitar rock Morello has purveyed in Rage Against The Machine and Audioslave.
The artist has been utilizing the Nightwatchman moniker for the past three years for performances, and has of late been hosting a Tuesday night residency at Los Angeles' Hotel Cafe. Among the guests that have dropped by recently are System Of A Down's Serj Tankian, Cypress Hill's Sen Dog and Perry Farrell.
Morello will tour this spring, including an appearance at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, in mid-March. But perhaps of most interest to hardcore fans are rumors that Rage Against The Machine may be reuniting for the first time in six-plus years to play the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival this spring.
An event spokesperson was not available for comment on the possibility of a Rage performance.
After Rage split in 2000, Morello formed Audioslave with his old band's rhythm section of Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk. However, Audioslave is on hiatus while frontman Chris Cornell records a solo album and has no plans to tour in support of its third album, "Revelations," released last fall.
And while Audioslave refused to play Rage songs live on its early tours, the band eventually began incorporating them into its sets in summer 2005.
As for Rage frontman Zach de la Rocha, little has been heard from him since the breakup, although he is said to be on good terms with his ex-bandmates.
Yes, when I said wind up, I meant that it was joke. As I said I've known the Mod there since early 2004 and she's the most liberal mod you'll ever see. Joke or not, I think it backfired on them as there were post deletions going on all over. I wasn't trying to leak the presale link or password, just the fact the seemed to point to the rumors being true. KROQ are due to announce the lineup Monday apparently, which fits with the presale ending Sunday night.
As for the animosity on the Coachella board, that's most the old hands who've been taking digs at each other for years.
Another interesting point is that the presale wasn't through TicketBastard, I hope that they can get out from under TM, Bonnaroo has proved that it can be done.
Yeah, RATM would be a great headliner. I know Coachella's got plenty of money, but the idea of having enough to get Rage and the Police is probably a little much. Even though one or the other would make a whole fest, I think RATM is more of the Coachella band and the Police belong at Roo.
Well I was wrong. Quote from the Coachella board mod:
the police are not playing. the password was a joke for our community people because of all the crazy rumors going around. we never said they were playing, for all you know roxanne is the name of the owner of the company's daughter.
Regardless of whether they confirmed anything, they knew what that password (roxanne) would imply. To use that to knowingly deceive people into buying tickets may not be illegal, but it's definitely unethical.
