Everybody on the Lolla message board found the Front Gate number and called in and got tickets. I called about 3 pm and finally got through after about 100 redials. Stayed on hold for about 8 minutes then got disconnected; called back and got a 'Lollapalooza souveneir tickets are sold out' message.

Ditto. Even the disconnecting after being on hold forever, then getting that lame message. Grrr. Oh, well. Guess it did what it was supposed to - - I hadn't considered it this year, but after nosing around & seeing the Pearl jam theory, I definitely will give it more thought.
You have the Vice and the Pitchfork curated festivals which are both pretty awesome and more affordable in Chicago. I do not see what the appeal of this massive clusterfuck of a festival.
but its a damn good time in an amazing park, in an amazing city, with fantastic music.....thats the appeal.
True on all counts. I just kind of view the festival as being a few adult contemporary acts away from being ACL in Chicago. Same people run it. Same irritating schedule that puts everyone against everyone in truncated sets. And then the same people make a ton of money by sponsoring the club shows in the area's venue.
On a side note, it will be really extremely tempting to buy tix to Pitchfork this year. Last year's fest almost made me drop the cash, and if I save up, I think I could potentially swing it this year. The cost is all in the travel.
