*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
It looks like as of Friday nite everything has been OK so far, I still will never go to this festival due to the potential cop over-aggressiveness. I found this article on Google. www.kansascity.com/115/story/143071.html
Turnout was down. One count was around 12000, down from 15000 last year but I think that's generous. I had a great time and saw no one being hassled. Overall it was a pretty laid back weekend.
Personal highlights: N. Mississippi Allstars with a keyboard player (sorry, don't know him) was all over the road with amazing musical styles. Incredibly high energy set. Tea Leaf Green hosted the guitarist from ALO and the fiddle from Railroad Earth and turned in an amazing set - best jams of the weekend (IMHO) I'm not really a bluegrass fan but RRE was great, good times, great music, I want to see them again. Saw ALO & Grace Potter for the first time but not the last WP played 3.5 hours but I dropped out to see Son Volt and was rewarded with Chickamauga from Uncle Tuepelo days Back Yard Tire Fire is high hilarity and a good time Overall a great diversity- no down time and the music just doesn't stop as Green Lemon plays Whitecaps just before 5AM Talking with other people there was a bunch of stuff they raved about, too. Very few complaints other than Ozric Tentacles were a no show and the Claypool set was cut short. I am beat. Only two days to rest up.....must recharge.....must get second wind......
^^^Something to do with not clearing customs or getting the right visas. I guess the whole tour is fouled up. I was pretty disappointed because that was one of the bands I really wanted see.
your mommas big fat booty band was a terriably great show. It was also my first time seeing ALO, which kicked ass. Spearhead put on a great show, There was a band called "The Bridge" definantly check them out. They were damn good.
Overall it was a decent environment as far as cops go, but I definantly saw them slapping hand cuffs on several people through out the weekend. During widespread they were front left scoping out the crowd with night vision.
Despite the fact that there were lots of cops, I would definanly do waka again.

i'd be great to have a mag light for those nasty night vision goggles...
the whole wakarusa thing in general just wierd me out. i cant imagine having much fun when jack-booted troopers are there with paramilitary gear looking for people smoking bones.
