Yay! so i'm a huge bluegrass fan and every year bonnaroo gives me some of that fix. i promised myself i wasnt gonna attend Merlefest this year and look for some other bluegrass festivals, closer to home. i came across this and didnt see it posted anywhere. i dont think you are supposed to use annual until it happens a second time.... but here is the inital and there are some good names on here that you might know. and at $99 its almost a steal
Del McCoury Band Vince Gill Dierks Bentley Keller Williams and The Keels David Grisman Bluegrass Experience Sam Bush Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet feat. Bela Fleck Punch Brothers feat. Chris Thile Railroad Earth
Wow! Thanks for the heads up on this. We moved to TN from the Eastern Shore of MD. and hate to go back up that way anymore. DelFest might change all of that. Super line up-Del and Grisman are favs.
It's a cool smaller regional fest in south central.......OHIO ;D !
Avetts headline thursday night. Also featuring Larry Keel, Sam Bush, Steep Canyon Rangers.
Supposedly a really down, salt of the earth fest on beautiful property. Also only a hundy admission for thursday thru sunday.
Welcome karma to another picker/grinner !

Thanks for the heads up on both of these fests. They are both farther away than I usually travel for Fests, but I'll definitely add them to my calendar as possibilities. Karma to both of you, when I can.

thanks for the karma...back at yall (when time permits). ap uprising has been on my list for a few years now. for some reason i havent made it up there yet. it looks like a blast though. i think last year it was on or around the bristol rhythm & roots reunion. dang i cant remember, though. if you havent you should check that line up out too.
There are plenty of regional festies in the area that merit your attention !
Also check out www.nlqp.com. Great acts and scene as well as super beautiful. Located in a quarry in NE Ohio, they are best known for Gratefulfest over 4th of July weekend. But they have somethin' good shakin' just about every weekend in the summer. Probably an additional 4 hours from app uprising though !
Yeah I've been a few years but I was planning on seeing Levon this year and so far no at Delfest. But I got him at Roo so Del it is. Merlefest is kinda a 'grown up' festival. Which is also playing a factor. No drinky dkinky. You have to go outside of the festival to smoke.. There is a great campground near where you can do your stuff and no hassles. I love that place. Nice night time atmosphere with some picking going on. I gotta find the name of it but its only $75 for the weekend.
