Now that has me thinking. I've never listened to M Ward but picked up the She & Him album by chance. I definitely love it. I'll have ot check out the M Ward solo.

Hold Steady added, and I'm in for the whole weekend despite my bitching about the sound problems. Les Savy Fav, Animal Collective, Spoon, and the Hold Steady were enough for me to get the whole weekend worth of tickets.

My thoughts exactly! I don't really understand the talk about this lineup being "mediocre". Given the awesome price of 65 dollars, the afformentioned bands, as well as Public Enemy, Dinosaur Jr., Vampire Weekend, M. Ward, and all of the others, it seems like an absolute no-brainer.
As soon as my tax return arrives, I'll be purchasing a ticket, and booking a train ride to Chicago! Can't wait!

^^^I understand it. In my opinion they really dropped the ball. This year doesn't hold a candle to the last two years, to say nothing of the Intonation Festival before that.

agreed. there is no "wow" factor this year like there has previously been (Sonic Youth, Os Mutantes, Yoko Ono etc)

Dropped the ball? No wow factor? I guess I'm just not sure what you guys were expecting the lineup to look like, but there's an excellent mix of established names (Public Enemy, Mission of Burma, Dinosaur Jr., Jarvis Cocker), current "buzz" bands (Animal Collective, Hold Steady, Vampire Weekend, Spoon), plus all of the lesser-known bands that I'm sure will prove to be the most interesting sets of the weekend. As far as bang for your buck goes, I think P4K got it right once again.

^^^For me it's an even mix of simply not having many names I'm genuinely interested in (Sonic Youth/Slint/GZA >>> Public Enemy/Mission of Burma/Sebadoh), but also objectively not having the variety and mix that they've had in past years. That's my take.

sunday looks to be excellent. i was going to go saturday basically to check out the hold steady again...but they are playing that friday near me so i'll probably do that and a day trip to chicago on sunday. eh..who am i kidding, i'll probably be there saturday too.

Three day passes sold out!
Hmm, now I have a decision to make...only buy a two day pass for 50 bucks and miss Public Enemy, Mission of Burma, and Sebadoh, or spend an extra thirty bucks on an additional Friday pass. I'm only a casual fan of Mission of Burma, and I've never heard Sebadoh, though it sounds like something I'd be into, so I guess it's really a question of whether PE is worth 30 bucks.
