Dear Lord, I wish I had something like this. I only started keeping a concert calendar in 2014 so I have no idea how many sets I've seen. If you ask me if I've seen someone, I could tell you... but if you ask me who I saw in 2009, my answer will be cobbled together from memories, photos, ticket stubs, and festival schedules.

It started with me keeping ticket stubs and writing in a notebook. Then I discovered setlist.fm and I track them all there. I'm just listing them this way because I wanted to see it numbered.

I'd estimate I've averaged around 50 ticketed sets per year over the past 12 years or so, plus another 80 or 100 total in the years before that, and a massive chunk on top of that if we're including local bands and DJs. So I'm probably near the 1,000 mark... but if you asked me to name them all, you'd get a few hundred.
I've been meaning to start a setlist.fm account for a decade now. One of these years I'll get around to it (maybe).
So everything at ACL was pretty awesome and at least lived up to expectations, but Thom Yorke had me thinking crazy shit like "this is better than Radiohead was". I'm a pretty anxious person and I was just struck by how incredibly relaxed I was during that set. Not a care in the world. The visuals were incredible on their own, and the sound mix was one of the best I've experienced at a show, certainly at a festival. Everything was so crisp and clear (helps to be right in front of the booth). Seriously trying to see him again on his short tour next year. Hopefully he'll be at Coachella, because he doesn't really play near me or anywhere I'd be otherwise, but I might have to go out of my way for it. It was so good.
Comet is Coming was an exhilarating show that did not let up. It was nice that it was cold so the Tito's tent wasn't packed just with people trying to escape the Sun.
Those were my top two shows of the weekend this ACL. The Cure, Robyn and Tame Impala were also great. IDLES kicked ass. Kacey and Childers were very good, even though country's not really my thing. When Tyler let his band play it was a jam.
Tegan and Sara’s new show was very interesting; they’d alternate between playing stripped down versions of their songs and reading passages from their memoir, often accompanied by VHS clips of them as teenagers. I get that this sort of comes with the territory of promoting a memoir, but it was an odd experience to see a concert whose primary selling point was getting to hear the band members reveal some of the most intimate details of their lives to the audience. It probably wouldn’t appeal to casual Tegan and Sara fans, but also I think there exactly zero casual Tegan and Sara fans.

Sounds similar to The Con X tour (stripped down versions with lots of banter in between).
I guess yours truly would be a casual T&S fan; seen them 4 times (three times with a former partner), but don't really care to see them again at this point.
I’m still pretty bummed about Janet Weiss leaving Sleater-Kinney so I didn’t really want to see them tonight, but my efforts to sell my ticket failed. I’m really, really glad I ended up going though. Angie Boylan brings a lot of energy to the group, and Carrie and Corin are still clearly having a blast; their guitar interplay was also great as always. They also played 28 songs (!!) and pulled out some great older tracks; getting to see “Call the Doctor” was really cool.
Just saw the Raconteurs, or should I say Jack White featuring the Raconteurs because he was absolutely burning the stage to the ground. Drummer was pretty good too. Def a top 5 show for me for the year though!
So some of you might remember when Slayer was playing Bonnaroo, they were going to be # 666 on my show list. I thought that was pretty cool. Redoing my list I must have come up with some that I didn't list before. Now Ride is #666 and that's not interesting at all.
Don't remember exact running time. In LA (Night 1) they started a couple min early, 8:43ish. 10-15 min intermission before the encore with a timer counting down. Mostly the same setlist night to night with one or two rotations near the end.
Went to the Tyler the Igor show last night. Awesome shit. Dude is definitely a headliner or at least in the 5-8 range for Roo. Blood Orange was good as hell too, had me in a trance, very surreal visuals. GoldLink was alright as well but i was saving my energy for the headliner, he’s a funny dude though.

Went after all due to the rush ticket line option. Glad I did, was a good show and different enough from past experiences to make it worthwhile!

If you plan on catching Kikagaku Moyo on their current tour, get there early for Minami Deutsch. Hypnotic rhythms with loads of distortion and fuzz, they almost stole the show!

A bugging problem for me is that I have to go to Florida this weekend and will miss their show. I've been looking forward to it ever since they didn't bring the light show to Bonnaroo. Pisses me off, but sometimes life will get in the way of shit. How was it overall?
2024: The Floozies, Phyphr, Disco Biscuits, Cimafunk, WSMFP, The Killers, Cory Wong, Dumpstaphunk, Bomba Estereo, Molly & Golden Hwy, Big Freedia, Payton/Nth Power, A.P&TFN, Mule
Saw Ministry last Friday at Vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola, FL. It's been over ten years since I last saw Ministry (4/19/2008 at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Meshuggah opened). In 2008 Al was amazing but was a hot mess, he was flipping people off and getting in arguments with people in the front row. It was great but he was all over the place. At Vinyl he was a lot more focused, and he looked surprisingly healthy for an old junkie. He sounded great and the band was super tight.
As he has done for a while the first half of the show was all new stuff, in fact it was the new record in it's entirety, which is a full on anti-Trump album complete with visuals. I think the record as a whole is OK, with maybe one or two better than OK songs, but I enjoyed hearing it live. Afterwards was a "hits" set which was of course great. They opened the hits set with "The Missing" which is my favorite Ministry song, so I was happy.
Good and attentive crowd, almost entirely made up of people who looked like they were ages 35-50. Lots of couples, good mix of genders, overall a positive and exciting vibe.
Only complaint is it would've been nice to hear at least one track from the W era, specifically "Let's Go", which is a scorcher regardless of who the president is.
I go way way back with Ministry, along with Nine Inch Nails they were one of the first bands that were "my" bands, meaning I saved up my little allowance money and slowly bought all of their CDs in grade school. Was glad I got to see them again.

This was my sixth time seeing them and they're really killing it this tour. Only complaint is that they've been sticking to a very similar setlist each time but their jams have been evolving and are different every show. I have yet to see them with a light show, so you're not missing out on that.
I didn't post about Slayer. Watching some youtube videos of the show now. Slayer was relentless, that's the best word I can think to describe it. Everything was loud and brutal. I've never a snare drum sound like that. They played longer than they have been on the previous tours. They played songs they haven't played in a long time. Slayer fans are the most enthusiastic bunch I've ever seen. They really love fucking Slayer. People stayed cheering the band for a good 10-15 min. after it was over. And the Slayer chants continued into the night.
I love Primus. The sounds that those 3 guys make together is just my shit. It was weird to see them only play like 50 min. But it was great.
I had never seen Ministry before. I thought it was good. My cousin and her husband are bigger fans and they were disappointed. They believed Al was lip synching, which I couldn't tell from where I was. Thieves is a monster.
Phil was good. It was an impressive turn out and sing along for a band that hit the stage at 6 sharp.
Now that I think about it, I probably haven't ever seen 4 bands that good together outside of a festival.

fwiw i don't think Al was lip syncing, he just has a heavy effect on his vocals that gives him that "ministry" sound like you hear in the studio records. could tell it was an effect because occasionally the effect would drop out for a second or two and you could hear his unfiltered voice.
