Nice man. Mid West shows are always ragers. I can't even wait to see what they pull out this tour. The Fall tour was insane because they got rid of setlists most nights and just played from songlists(large list of songs to choose from, but no set order) It really opened things up and the shows were just unbelievable. I'll be hitting up these shows:
I should be able to get to all of those. I might have to skip Buffalo because it's the furthest from me and I'll most likely be doing most of these alone. It's also on a Thursday so I need to decide how much time off work I want to use on just a mini tour.

My daughter is at school in Boone, NC. Nobody would trade shifts with her at the resturant she works at so she could go see them tonight. She was bummed until the whole band and their crew came in and sat at her table! Didn't get to hear them play, but got to meet everybody anyways. Said they were super nice (tried to call me so I could say hi and ask them when to expect them at Roo, but I was out without my phone, dammit....)

I'm definatly seeing them in ohio, might check them out in dc too, and maybe a few other places, but for now its just columbus. I didnt catch the fall tour, so its been a while, psyched to see them again.
you should think about that south bend st pattys day show ziggy. st pattys day in the hometown of south bend. irish heaven. should be incredible. plus it is the last show with adrian belew. i think its going to go down as one of the greatest umphreys shows ever.

I just realized that i'll actually be able to drive by then. If there are tickets when i have money, i'll definatly think about checking it out. I'd love to see adrian belew play, just grabbed all his "side" albums, really solid, and have always like king crimson.
The Belew shows should be outstanding. Someone over at the Umphrey's message board posted a link to Belew's blog and he talks about playing with Umphrey's soon. I guess they sent him a bunch of tunes to learn. Seeing as it looks like he'll be well prepared those shows should be smoking. All I get in the Northeast is Brothers Past opening for them. Just once I want to catch a show with Belew or Johsua Redman sitting in. I'm hoping for a Warren Haynes sit in at Mountain Jam 3 though.

Wish I could go, I'm gonna be at the first show at the canopy club. I'll get down there early about 3 or 4 go to the pub and be ready for some Umphrey's w/ Belew goodness.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."
Enjoy guys. The mid-west gets all the best UM shows. I was able to confirm a place to stay in NYC so it looks like I'll definitely be hitting the Nokia show. Haven't missed one at the Nokia yet and they have all been outstanding shows so I'm really looking forward to this. Also can't wait to pre-game across the street at Dave & Busters. It's pricey but it's so great to slam beers and play video games before the show.
They are recording these two nights for a future live album that will be released. I'm sure they are gonna rip the roof right off that place. I really wish I didn't live so far away.
Looks like things with Belew got off to a nice start last night.

I love Utopin Fur too. I've only managed to catch one in 14 shows so far though. Umphrey's has played some Dead before. Check out 2/15/05 in San Fran. They play Franklin's Tower with Phil Lesh on bass and vocals. Also, 2/28/06 there is a Friend of the Devil jam during the acoustic Great American. I've heard them tease Tennesse Jed too.

The Franklin's Tower is particularly hot. It's a one set show and I always pop it in just for the Franklin's. I think Jake and Bayliss do a really good job. A lot of "tasteful shredding" if something like that exists. A perfect balance of Umphrey's face melting combined with the Dead's sound.
Well I got the soundboard to the 9/28/06 show because I was there and bought the UM live afterwards. I don't remember where I got the one with Phil Lesh.

The canopy show is up on oink, but i'm waiting to see the other set lists before i download a show. I'm thinking the saint pattys show will be the best, we'll see.
ya thats wht i got too. i figure jumping on a great show so early it will get a decent ratio so its worth it.
also i just found out that they released somemore seats. so i moved on up from the second balcony to main floor center, row m for the st pattys day show. damn i am excited!!!!!!!!!
