i just got back from the st pattys day show. ill start by saying it was an amazing show!! a great time. BUT... i heard from nearly everyone i talked to it was the weakest of the 4. it was at this place on notre dame campus that seemed more fit for an opera. it had movie theatre style seating. all types of cool stuff moleded into the ceiling. really nice. way too nice for a st pasttys day umph show. there was no beer allowed into the concert area. you could only drink out in the lobby area. when we pulled up there was 15 cop cars there. you had to empty your pockets and take off your hat to get patted down and let in. it sucked. the no smoking was strictly enforced. all the ushers/security were old ass people wearing usher uniforms. like 60+ the no drinks, no smoking, no in the aisle show watching, and no glowsticks were enforced and they watched like hawks. cops in the balcony staring people down. the tiny movie theather style aisle and narrow ass seats left no room for dancing. my friends were sitting in front of bayliss' mom and grandma. there were alot of old people there. it seemsed like they went there as like a chill homecoming show where there families could come and not have to deal with drinking and smoking. it sounds like the show to be at was the clutch cargos show. i guess it was like the circus rolled into town. there was crowd surfing, drinking and smoking everywhere. the band was trashed!! and i guess it was one hell of a show. sounds like they celebrated there and did the family thing in south bend. i wish i would have known that. it was a hell of a lot closer to me and cost less. st pattys day with no drinking during the show kinda sucked. again it was a great show. just not the right environment for it. ill never go to a show at that place again. but id download it. certainly worth listening to. and the second set was incredible. cant wait to see some umph festival shows this summer!! its so much better in that environment. adrian belew was great too. he really tore it up with umph for the encore. id love to see him again.

I saw that it was in an actual theater when i looked at tickets, and i thought that was weird. I'm listenin to the show right now, all the Belew shows are solid. Clutch Cargo's is the only one that isnt up, then my Belew collection will be complete! I have a choice to see either Umphrey's or Man Man in DC. Even though i'm seeing umphrey's a few times its tempting to see them again, but its my only chance to see Man Man.

The Canopy Club was a pretty good show. You could tell Adrian was just getting his feet wet with the band. They played Red and Thela Un Gijeet with Belew was pretty a sweet encore. There was no smoking at the show too but after a while it seemed to be a pretty much non issue. I started the show right in front of the stage but with the swell of people as the show started I backed off and moved back to the bar. I could barely move or breathe there were so many people pushing to get to the front, which was probably the only complaint I had of the show.It wasn't the best Umph show I've seen but it was one of the funnest as soon as I moved back and was able to dance and breathe.

Glad you guys had a good time. The St. Patty's show looked like more of a family/friends pleaser than a jamfest. I heard the All in Time was a rager though. I wish I could have caught one of the Belew shows, I'm really interested to hear Thela Hun GinJeet. Still 3 more weeks until I get my UM fix.
ya all in time was nice. but i think roo ruined that song for me. i dont know if its possible to see a better all in time then that one. but ill still take it anytime. i was hoping for some snucka. but no go. they should announce when they plan on having a raging st pattys day party on friday so they can do the family reunion on saturday and i can choose the right one to go to. i guess i should have known from the venue. oh well live and learn.

That song is probably my second favorite umphreys cut, behind their new years pay the snucka. I'm also a metal fan, so thats probably why, sounds like they have buckethead guestin on that song or something its so ridic.
thela hun ginjeet was insane for st pattys day. adrian belew was down on his knees just friggin shredding!!!! jake had a towel and was fanning him like he was on fire and he was trying to put him out. it was insane!! the whole second set was crazy. i hope they do more with adrian in the future. im sure they will. ive got my fingers crossed for gratefulfest!
let me know if anyone wants me to sendspace any of these shows. im getting all 4. i havent found the clutch cargo show online yet. but my friend bought the soundbaords at the show. i will get them from him next time i see him. hopefully it will surface on oink soon.

The Morris is a wierd place. I'm from South Bend, and im really surprised that the place didn't get a little crazier. I been to a good chunk of shows there and seen the place get turned out. The seats do suck though. My main problem was that the pit was not getting alot of Belew. His stacks werent cranked that high, and the big PA speakers were missing us completely. Could only hear him when the rest of the guys quieted down. I was also dissapointed that he didn't have the trio. Being from town, the Umph is kinda played out for me. Honestly, me and my freinds were going to an Adrian Belew show. Worth the 25, but I had more fun at the bars afterward.
ya, unfortuante for us they were all full. we went to the vine but they got full about 5 people from us. we went to another bar around the corner and uniformed police were dragging people out. we said lets leave south bend and never come back!!! oh well live and learn.. im still glad i went. but i wont be back to that place.

It should also be noted that the show was played without a setlist. The whole first set as a Crooked One sandwhich looks nice. Could have predicted that Bottom Half seeing as their new album "The Bottom Half" was released yesterday. One week exactly until I start my stretch of shows. I'm so excited, I haven't been to a show since December. Anybody hitting up any of the upcoming Northeast shows?
