Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'll be in the Atlantic City for Trey Anastasio and his 11 piece band.
I've mever seen him with an 11 piece. I have seen his solo act as a 3 piece, 5 piece, 6 piece, 7 piece, 8 piece, and 10 piece, and of course the 4 piece that was Phish.
11 is a new one on me, though. Hopefully it's not a clusterf*ck of noise, though I have a feeling they'll bring it up a notch for the special night.
What shows, if any, are you doing? If no show, what's your planned festivity to ring in the 07?
The lady and I are staying down at the Marriott here in Denver on the 30th and 31st. We're dropping the dog off at the PetsMart Hotel and getting the fu*k out of Dodge for a couple of days. On the 30th, we're going to check out New Monsoon and Hot Buttered Rum @ Cervantes Masterpiece, after deciding it had the potential to be more fun than Devotchka and Andrew Bird. On NYE, we'll be at the Fillmore for Yonder Mountain String Band with " speciall guests." Right now, the only listed guest is Futureman from the Flecktones, but hopefully that list will grow.
I'm REALLY looking forward to it. After our trip to Chicago to spend Christmas with my family, we're going to need to unwind in a big, big way. To put it kindly, things are going to be hairy back home for the holidays.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
As many of you know, I will be seeing the Brazilain Girls from the craziest place to be on New Years, NYC. This was a fair compromise with my gf since she is not too big on the jam bands and I know they put on a pretty damn good show.I will take pics and maybe some video if I can sneak some in.
So, how was everyone's shows? I had an absolute BLAST in Atlantic City. Just an awesome time, and some of the Best Trey Solo I've ever seen (and I've seen ALOT of trey solo, probably too much). HE busted out some phish tunes like the landlady, stash, alumni blues, and buried alive, as well as the obscure cover Peaches en Regalia! That was just the icing on the cake though. The original TAB material was where the good stuff really was. Spin, Mud City, 46 Days, Push ON til the Day, Plasma, Low, Mr. Completely were all just awesome aweomse versions. He also played "wanna be startin' somethin'" to ring in the new year. It was great.
This show topped Bonnaroo 2002, which many people regard as one of the great Trey shows ever. IT was just excellent on all fronts, and of the 14 times I've seen Trey this year in all of his different incarnations (Oysterhead, Phil+Trey, GRAB, and TAB), this was BY FAR the best. The band is super super tight, to the point where Trey said something about it after the second set on NYE, and then proceeded to tell us there would be a Live Album based on the NYE run coming out in 2007. Then he took a picture of the whole band with the House of Blues crowd as the background. I was up front right at the edge of the picture, so fingers crossed I make the cover!!
HE also played 5 sets in a Row without a repeat, which was amazing to me, b/c in the 41 times I've seen Trey solo (which has included several 2, 3, 4 and 5 night runs), I have never seen him play 5 sets in a row without repeating one song.
Sign me up for more in the 07!! Bonnaroo Please!!
Let's hear your reviews, and maybe we'll get some of these bands at everyone's favorite festival. :-)

The Hold Steady at House of Blues (Back Porch Stage) in Chicago almost killed me...
Here's the setlist (minus How a Resurrection Really feels somehwere in the mix)
What a great show. The guys came out in tuxes and rocked for over 2 hours. THere was a nice breakdown during 'hoodrat' while the ball dropped...followed by much champagne being shared with the crowd. They let the crowd (as much as could fit) up on stage at the end during killer parties...some guy was wearing Craig's guitar and another was drinking Jack and Korbel with Tad. These guys need to come to roo!
Sounds like both of you guys enjoyed yourselves! I travelled back to Chicago for the Hold Steady a couple months back and was thrilled. I'm envious of you having caught them on NYE!
As for myself, we had a great weekend. The New Monsoon show was the highlight of the weekend for me. Never knew they'd kick my ass like they did! As for YMSB on NYE, I had a really great time, but had pushed myself WAY TOO FAR the night before and did something I never do...had to leave early...now mind you, this is goddamned New Year's Eve! I was just absolutely cooked. I'm not sure I've ever been as spent as I was that night. We cut out about 11:20 and spent midnight relaxing in the room. I was asleep by 12:05 or so. Anyway, I really enjoyed the abbreviated show I saw, but wish I would have hung in there. The girlfriend was understanding, thankfully.
I feel you. I didn't do anything exciting, just hung out with some friends and did the usual ritualistic smoking and drinking routine. But I was really hung over from the night before, and with watching the Eagles game and drinking, I ended up passed out by 1:00a. I was gonna go to another party, but alas, I slept the night away. It was a good sleep. Much needed. NYE on Sundays sucks ace.
haha, aquarium, I'm sure all have been in that position before.... most of us probably at BONNAROO,hehe. sorry you had to cut out early but glad you enjoyed yourself regardless.
I forgot to mention how the Brazilian Girls were. Before they went on stage, they had a stripper come on stage and well...strip. It was a very sexual show from the get go. The band looked sharp and jammed out on many of the songs, which sounded like a rave at times.
The lead singer, Sabina, came out wearing this white puffy outfit with blue Christmas lights decorated around her, but eventually that came off wearing a tight black outfit. Toward the end of their set the played "girl thingy" , where they had audience members come up and strip.Overall, a very strong performance and wouldn't surprise me if they played roo again this year.
