Anybody else get tickets to Dispatch's reunion show this summer at Madison Square Garden (in NYC)? It's a fundraising concert and all proceeds will go towards helping out Zimbabwe. It will also be the first time the band has played together since 2004.
Anyhow, I'm going and just wanted to see if any other Inforoosters will be there. The presale started today at noon, and by the time I got home from my internship (3pm) virtually all the tickets for the Saturday July 14th show were sold out. I managed to snag one ticket for myself, but I think it may have been the only ticket left. Since I'll be going solo, I'd love to try to meet up with some inforoo people there.
Dispatch added a second show on Friday July 13 since the tickets went so fast (and by now that show's probably just about sold out too). Lucky I was able to get 3 tickets to Friday night's show, so my friends can join me for that one.
I wish that the presale info had been released other than by a myspace bulletin, because my internship blocks the site, so I couldn't order tickets until I got home. As a result, my friends can't join me on Saturday, and I'll be sitting pretty far away; but, I'm so psyched to be going anyhow!
p.s. I forgot how much I hate ticketmaster. A $39.50 ticket ended up costing me $53 even though I selected the free shipping standard mail option.
Man...They sold out MSG within 30 min...Thats nuts! I have been to MSG a few times and only the big boys play in the actual arena. You would think they were Phish the way they sold that out. Here is an article from pollstar about the sellout and the 2nd show added:
Another Dispatch Updated 10:43 PST Wed, Jan 10 2007 Those who visited Pollstar.com on Monday may have read about a band called Dispatch that was going to be headlining Madison Square Garden this July. The story is still there - just scroll down if you missed it. The band has a big following - big enough to purchase all of its reunion benefit show tickets in 30 minutes on a MySpace presale. The sellout was followed immediately by an announcement of a second show on July 13, a Friday. The band is temporarily re-forming to raise awareness to the atrocities in Zimbabwe, and to raise money for related causes. Obviously, a lot of Dispatch fans have been waiting for this reunion - probably for a variety of reasons. The band drew more than 100,000 to its farewell concert in 2004, even though the press didn't seem to care or even know what was happening. By the way, some bloggers may want to know that our website's main objective is to announce tour dates and special events. An unsigned band selling out Madison Square Garden is an interesting story regardless of the type of music the band plays.
i had heard of them but never gave them a listen. im not sure how i managed to not hear them before now. ill be at all good anyways but i hope they decide to tour after this show. i would love to see them. their website has every album and every song on it to stream. atleast as far as i can tell. ive been listening for hours.

I think it's really unlikely that they will tour after this since they all have other stuff going other projects going on now, but if there's other good causes they want to raise money for, then it's possible.
I've met Chad and he's really socially conscious and not into making tons of money. I think the other guys were starting to want to sign with a major label and start charging more for tickets and stuff and he wasn't down with that. He's in the band State Radio, and you should really try to get to see them play regardless of whether you get the chance to see Dispatch play.
Braddigan and Pete also have their own solo careers. I haven't seen them, but I've listened to their stuff and it's pretty good too.
They sold out the second show so quickly that they are now adding a third! Tickets go on sale January 20. There will be no presale this time. The show will be on Sunday, July 15th. Now I have to try to decide whether to attempt to see them three days in a row. Or decide whether I should try to get better tickets and maybe sell some of the ones I already bought. The bad thing is that a Sunday show at NYC will make going to my internship Monday morning in CT kind of rough.
I'm psyched the band still has such a great following and is going to raise so much money, but I wish they hadn't announced this third show because it makes me very indecisive about whether I can justify going to it or not.
Since I severely sprained my foot and ankle at Roo, I won't be able to use my ticket for the Sat July 14 show at MSG. (I'm still going to try to go to the Fri show, since I was going to that one with friends, but I won't be up for the solo show the following night.) So, if you are interested in buying my ticket--Sec 308, Row J--PM me. I'll sell it for what it cost me $53 (with fees, taxes, etc.)
lets bump this thread since this concert is this weekend. im PUMPED. im going all 3 nights. ive been really worried after seeing what a disaster the police reunion was. but the good thing is that dispatch is still young and have been doing there own thing. IM PRAYING THAT THEY DONT HAVE THE SAME SETLIST. they have a bunch of good stuff and can EASILY switch it up all 3 nights and get a good mix. any thoughts?

I still have a ticket for Saturday night that I need to sell since my ankle's not healed enough to handle going two nights in a row Originally, I planned on going all three nights, now I'm glad I didn't have the money at the time to buy a ticket for Sunday or that would be another ticket that I would have to get rid of. If you know anyone who would want to buy my ticket, let me know and I can sell it to you at Friday's show. I just want to sell it for what it cost--I'm not try to make money off of a fundraising show.
As far as setlists go, I'm thinking there will be a little overlap between shows, but I'm sure each of them will be unique.
I'm so happy to be finally seeing them again, I have been waiting 3 years for this show. The Last Dispatch , their free concert in Boston, was only the second time I got to see Dispatch live, and that show was insane!
i ended up getting a free ticket for the friday show, i hadent listened to dispatch in like 3 years but it was cool to see them, the show was pretty good they played everything i had wanted to hear. i guess after seeing a ridiculously good Cheese show i was a little let down by dispatch but all in all i had a great time
