GREAT article on Keller, cant wait till he comes to Maine right before i head to FL in March! Some big news for the K-Dub fanatics like myself. I've seen him more than any other act and i love that man.
"Keller's brand new record, Dream (available February 6 on SCI Fidelity) is an ambitious project of epic proportions. The list of musicians appearing on the project reads like a musical honor roll: Bela Fleck, Bobby Read, Bob Weir, Charlie Hunter, Derrek Phillips, Fareed Haque, Fleming McWilliams, Jeff Sipe, John Molo, John Scofield, Martin Sexton, Michael Franti, Modereko, Samir Chatterjee, Sanjay Mishra, Steve Kimock, The String Cheese Incident and Victor Wooten."
"I am definitely looking at band possibilities right now," Keller says. "I kind of exhausted all my ideas on this record, as far as collaborations go, but there are always things that I'd like to do, like jump into an established band. We have one festival booked in Illinois in the summer called Summercamp. A couple other festivals are still kinda teetering on possibilities. I've got a lineup kinda picked out. I've got some rehearsal dates, but I want to wait until it's a real definite before I start name-dropping."
I'm really interested to see how this record turns out. I picked up "Grass" a few weeks ago and I'm not really diggin it that much. I like Keller and all but I think I'd really enjoy him more with a band. I like all the Keller Incident I've heard and I really like the "Keller McGee" set I have which is Keller playing a set with Umphreys. I've never caught a full Keller show though, only festival sets. I'm seeing him in Albany in a few weeks so I'm really looking forward to that.

Grass isn't that great, get one of HIS albums... Try Laugh, Home, Loop or Buzz first... Those are his staples IMO...
I was listening to this podcast thing they link at the bottom of the article that previews a bunch of tracks on Dream and has him commenting on the collaberations and how songs came about and stuff, and i must say it sounds GREAT... Few new songs he's had in his live rotation since last summer, and some old originals (like Cadillac) that havent made it on a record yet... But yeah i was dissapointed with Grass...
I just started downloading Dream From iTunes, it came out at midnight, I can't freaking wait, if it is half as amazing as that lineup he is playing with, it should be his best yet. I saw him do a few of the songs from the album in December, but I will wait to hear them again to judge them.
Just got "Dream" last night and I'm loving it. I really think I like Keller with a band a lot more than him solo. I've really liked him both times I've seen him but whenever I end up playing one of his discs I can't listen to more than a couple songs before I change it. I have his live disc "Stage" and it's good but I can't ever really get into it. Theres just not enough there or something. The whole looping thing is really only cool when your there to see it live. I love "Dream" though. Songs like "Ninja of Love" sound a lot better than they do when it's just Keller. Really impressed with the album so far.
I love to watch Keller do his thing, and have seen him several times, but I am with y'all, except for a few things he did with String Cheese, he gets very little i-pod space. But the other musicians have made Dream a much more interesting album, but I think I would prefer seeing him in concert on his own, but hopefully I will find out this year at Roo.

Yeah he'll most definately broaden his appeal playing in a group... My favorite Keller will always be solo Keller... Him and a guitar thats it... The loops and multiple instruments are just icing on the cake to me really, i could watch him play guitar forever...
