I can't wait for this show. It's a bit of a road trip for me, but a great reason to spend the weekend in Chicago. I've been a fan of his for ages and it will be great to finally see him live.

Wired magazine gave a short writeup of his new album as well. Anyone listen to it yet?
I've only heard 1 or 2 pieces from him - jazzy, percussion-heavy cuts off of a downtempo collection (can't remember any names, dammit) - but they were striking enough for me to remember his name.
He sounds right up my alley. Anyone want to suggest a few records as a starting point for a novice?
I started out with "Supermodified" and worked my way backwards through his catalog. Soupermodified and Bricolage are my favorites. The Culo stuff is good too, but not as dense with sound. He was just starting to discover how to layer his music with moods on that album.

was this show a dj set or a live pa of some kind?
It hasn't happened yet, but it will be a live dj set. I believe that he will be mixing everything live.
As it turns out, Air is playing the same weekend in Chicago, so I scored some tickets to that show too. Looks like it will be an all electronic weekend for me.
hell yes. Amon was one of the best shows at the first bonnaroo. Crazy Crazy DJ. He is the f*ckin man. I have been yearning for him to come back to Roo, but he hasn't. I basically didn't know his music, only who he was on 6/21/02, but he blew me away. He played between Les Claypool and Widespread Panic, who, at the time, were 2 of the top reasons I went to Bonnaroo. He blew them both away.
