Went to see Ye Olde Andrew Bird at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville last night. He is quite the amazing performer. It was nice to see him in such a small space after last year's 'Roo. He has a presence that is undeniable. And the spinning horn for the violin is freaking awesome.
My Morning Jacket (at least Carl, Patrick, and Jim James...WITH A BUZZ CUT no less!) was hanging backstage. Patrick came out and played Martin Dosh's drumset for Fake Palindromes. I'm a huge MMJ fan, having seen them 15 times, and getting even just a collaboration is always a wonderful thing. Show up for one favorite, have your absolute favorite band show up and help out...wonderful?
Anyone else there? I saw the setlist but couldn't grab one. He mostly played stuff from Armchair Apocrypha, and all of it was gorgeous.
