Just got an email update for tickets for Chris Cornell in Nashville on May 31....had no idea he was coming to Nashville in May. Tickets go on sale tomorrow am (Sat, 4/28). Not a huge fan of his solo stuff, but I DO love when he does the Soundgarden stuff! And I haven't heard anything but that Bond theme off his new solo record so I think I'll have to check it out. I mean, for $35 it IS Chris F. Cornell!!! ;D

wow, no way! I might actually be able to go to that show. I really liked his first solo album Euphoria Morning, but I have heard 2 songs off his second solo album (not including the Bond theme which is excellent) and I didn't like them very much. I would go just to see him sing Temple of the Dog/Soundgarden stuff. Even though his voice has gone downhill a lot since his Soundgarden days, hearing him singing Black Hole Sun would still be amazing.
I hope his solo stuff is better than that album he put out in '99. Either way, I wanna see him, and if he's coming around the Carolinas, I'd buy a ticket in a heartbeat.
I am definitely going to get tix for Nashville in the morning. I'll figure out the logistics later....maybe that Fri after is one of my off Fridays, I"ll have to check...oh well I will have use or lose to burn by that time anyway.....Can't remember if City Hall is a general admission venue or not, think so. Sorry, random ramblings out loud
EDIT: Just bought my tix!!!! It is GA, thought so....I kind of like that though, small venue, can get up close and personal if you like! I might like
;D My tix just came in the mail !!! (OK, yesterday....) Can't wait, can't wait!
Has anyone heard anything about any of his recent performances/concerts? From all I can find, it looks like he is pulling out stuff from Soundgarden/Temple AND Audioslave in addition to his solo stuff.....there are clips of him doing Slaves and Bulldozers, All Night Thing, Spoonman, Doesn't Remind Me, Like a Stone, Hunger Strike.....wow, this is going to be AWESOME!!!!!
I will see if I can get off work to go...although money is going to be an issue to, Bonnaroo is killing me.
Yeah, tell me about it! I MAY end up with an extra ticket to Cornell, one of my friends may end up in Auburn that weekend. Since I bought all the tickets, I'll be the one that has to unload his so if I need to sell it, I'll PM you and give you a good deal on it (below face value) if you are interested. I should know something in the next week....

Well, I'm not going to be able to make the show *prays for Cornell at Bonnaroo 08,* but I thought I might revive this thread to tell all your Chris Cornell fans (hopefully more ppl than just myself and bamabelle) that if you preorder his CD here:

You get the cd w/ an autographed CD booklet. Check it out.
Bummer about the concert, but thanks for the link! Chris on the pre-roo concert thread posted this link to one of CC's recent concerts, I am SOOO looking forward to next week! ;D
Hope that concert's good, to whoever's going. Gimme a recap, I'm interested to see where his head is after Audioslave...
Just got back about an hour ago.....WHEW!!!! What a concert!!!
Not even going to attempt sleep tonight, I'd have to be up in 3 hours and the adrenaline is still going strong.....not worth it! Can't remember the entire set list, but best recollection is that it was just over 2 hours and 15 minutes, somewhere between 25-28 songs.....yeah!!! And it was all CHRIS! No opening act....and only maybe 7? songs were his solo stuff the rest was Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and Soundgarden......maybe 1000 people there. I was front rail, maybe 3 feet from the stage, no more than 10 feet from Chris at any time all night - absolutely incredible! He was really relaxed, his band is really relaxed, playing small venues and doing mostly old stuff they don't have the pressure and they don't try to do the songs "exactly" the recorded versions....it's more of a frat party feel. They joke around and and it's just - FUN!
So....his voice was good - not as great as some of the clips I had seen of earlier on this tour, but better than most of the Audioslave CDs/DVDs and vids I have heard/seen. Some of the songs were INCREDIBLE - Hunger Strike, Call Me A Dog, Can't Change Me, and Seasons especially!
OK, so here is what I remember of the set list (not necessarily in order!)- and some of these are absolute jems! I CANNOT BELIEVE that I got to see Chris Cornell sing Jesus Christ Pose!! Oh and did I mention that I got to hear him do "All Night Thing" warming up while we were waiting for the doors to open?? *sigh* the only song he didn't do that I would have added to the list!
Spoonman Outshined Original Fire What You Are Show Me How To Live Hunger Strike Say Hello To Heaven (new song) (new song) Carry On You Know My Name Fell On Black Days Loud Love Rusty Cage Loud Love I Am The Highway Can't Change Me Call Me A Dog Doesn't Remind Me Like A Stone Cochise Billie Jean Jesus Christ Pose My Wave Seasons Black Hole Sun
That is a really good set list. I think its awesome he played Jesus Christ Pose. That was the first Soundgarden song I ever heard, I thought WTF is this song about, and I still do to this day (but I love it regardless). It looks like he played his best songs, there aren't many others I can think of that I would have liked to hear other than his covers of Redemption Song and Thank You. Thanks for the review!

Yes, Jesus Christ Pose was the hightlight of the night for me!! It totally rocked!!! For that 6 minutes it was like being back in the Soundgarden days.....Chris was dead on with his voice and he was spinning and posing like the video! And the two guitarists were SCREAMING! Neither one of them was Kim, but you could tell that they had worked on that song HARD and they slammed dunked it!
Close second was Call Me A Dog....just Chris acoustic on guitar w/o the band.....dead on voice again.....man, nothing better than Chris on w/TotD classics.....*shiver*
Glad you had a great time......wish I coulda made! How were the drums on Jesus Christ Pose......I don't see how anyone could create what Matt Cameron does on that track besides him. Call me a dog acoustic....niiice! My friends back home are seeing him in atlanta next weekend I think (they're bringing back those old 99x big day out concerts and he is headlining it).

I think the Atlanta show was last night, because I ALMOST drove over! Just couldn't justify the cost with Roo right around the corner.... Yeah, have to be honest, the drummer just didn't impress me at all...Matt cannot be duped. The guitars and Chris carried Jesus Christ Pose, the drums were passable, but they were not a highlight like in the original version. Like I said, they knew enough to not try and be JUST LIKE the original versions of ANY of the songs.....but they brought it for all of them in their own way and made it fun. I really think Chris is just doing this record/tour for his own enjoyment and not making a dime on it....but having fun and singing what he wants to sing his way. He introduced "Say Hello 2 Heaven" by saying "This is the first time doing this song live, they never let me sing this song live before and now I can do whatever the F* I want, so...."
You are correct it was last nite....I'll have to call and see how it was. I cannot believe he hasn't played Say hello to heaven live before....another one of my favs....hell the whole damn TOTD album is pure gold.

I think before this TOUR he hadn't done it live....I know he has done it on this tour before Nashville.....but yes...TOTD is my fave! and to hear it live was beyond words....even just HEARING All Night Thing for sound check was incredible!
