the soul and soothing sex appel that only a Bonnie Raitt or Susan T. can produce can only be partially matched by maybe Marvin Gaye or Bobby Blue Bland but never totaly. And how do you top Janis singing Take a Piece of My Heart? I ask you that. I gave a fem vote.

I'd say Jeff Buckley could top that (and just about every other singer imaginable) pretty easily. I voted for guys, but for more than just him.
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.

I don't think it's so much that I don't like female singers... Its that I don't like what female singers sing/or write as the case may be... I think it's more the lyrical content and chord progression of songs which are typically sung by females as opposed to the fact that a female is singing it.

I still cant believe males are winning by so much. Its not even close for me, if i named off my top 25 singers i dont believe even one guy would be in the top 10. Theres some good male vocalist, but none of them can carry a song like many of the females.

It all depends. For rap, punk and harder rock, I prefer male vocals. When It comes to dance, jazz, folk or country, I prefer female vocals. Both are great when it comes to soulful booty-music!
(I'm voting for the ladies since their so far behind)

It's so funny. The tendency is definitely for men to love female vocalists and for females to love male vocalists. I mean sure, I like Bjork and Karen O and my guilty pleasures Alanis and Jewel and Paula Cole etc., but... I love men so much more! Kkay. Here's my theory and don't smite me for it. I think it has to do (somewhat) with sex. Music tends to be kind of a sexual experience for me sometimes... um... how to put this without seeming shallow... I like sexy music a lot. And, being a straight female, I think that male singing is much sexier than female singing. That's just how it is. Seriously, Beck's "Debra" and "Peaches and Cream" are so sexy! And I love those songs. I don't know... maybe I don't make sense, But I really feel that I'm right in this respect. Music is a sexual (or at least an erotic) experience, and it's easier to enjoy music made by people (voices) to which one is attracted.

regina is fantastic, and there are other female vocalists that can give me chills. but its men hands down, their voices are so strong and easy to appreciate.

I definetly lean towards Male vocals. When I do enjoy female vocals, they end up having a male undertone anyways... My vote still goes for Male! I love Mike Patton, what can I say?
It'd be different, but most guys can't sing half as well as Mike Patton... Nor does every woman sing as well as Fiona Apple... So I'm totally tied on this one.
