I think I missed them in Akron or dayton? cant remember where they were exactly. I'm originally from Cincinnati(Northern KY) Have a karma point for being somewhat near the 859!
thanks man! i'm going to see them at the vogue in indy, only about 1 1/2 hrs frrom dayton. i missed them the last time around. the vouge is the closest that they come to dayton. no cincy or cbus (columbus).
But doesn't Cincy get that Tall Stacks Festival in like Oct? I've looked at that a few times but never went. The Keys are so good live and they always introduce me to a new band. Last time around it was the Black Angles. I'm really excited about that new Dangermouse/Ike Turner record.
Yeah, cincy should be re named "skipsies" because no bands ever really come there.
sheeet man! try living in dayton. we get nuuuthing around here. we do have a bigger venue called the nutter center. it's at wright state university. it does get some concerts but it's usually like kenny chesney or the monster truck ralley or something. it used to get some decent bands in the late 90's but not so much any more. we don't have any smaller venues to see bands like the black keys or other smaller acts. always have to go to cincy, cbus, or indy. funny, cause dayton has a pretty big indy scene. oh well

The one band I look forward to every year is Dave. And I've seen him 22 times so I'm starting to get burned out on his shows. When it comes to the bigger bands who play here, it pretty much sucks. The real popular national touring bands here in Cincinnati other than Dave and Govt Mule are bands like Kenny Chesney, Poison, Nickelback. Its pretty sad really. Oh, and Peter Frampton lives here.
Tall Stacks doesn't come every year but it should. 2006 was awesome. Wilco, Dr. John, MMW, Tea Leaf Green, Ollabelle, some great local musicians, and oh yeah - Buddy Guy (who came out into the crowd, he was playing right next to me, I could have given him a hug or shook his hand, but you don't want to do that).
I had heard a rumor from someone who worked at Tall Stacks or for some company that sponsored it or something like that, that they were thinking about bringing just the music fest of it back every year, but it hasn't been back yet. I think its a wonderful idea. Of course, we have the Midpoint fest every September which is like a smaller SXSW (I think SuperDrag was the biggest act last year, or is it SuperGrass? I can't remember which one, whichever one sings the song that goes "Who sucked out the feeling...").
I live about 10 minutes from the river in Kentucky. You can usually find something good at the Southgate House every month. Most recently I was supposed to see Band of Horses there, but it sold out a couple weeks before hand, and shows never sell out at that venue, so I figured I would just get it when I got there, but I checked there website only to see it was sold out, I was pretty pissed.
My brother started this thing called CincyPunk fest, which has gone from an all punk/hardcore fest, which I'm not really into, and its now much more diverse with alt/indie/rock but most of the bands have roots in punk still. Its a good time. Some of the best local bands play there. He's young and not rich so obviously he can't get national touring bands. He does get bands from around the country just no one that is that big. Its an all for charity benefit type deal, none of the bands get paid, but its cool to see what he can put together. Seeing him do that makes me want to start a local fest with more the type of music that Bonnaroo gets. I hope it'll happen one day.
And I think a band out of Cincinnati is opening for the Black Keys on this upcoming tour. They're called Buffalo Killers. They opened for the Black Crowes at the Taft last fall. I think they may have opened for them in Louisville, maybe Indy also. They're a great band. I'd like to see them get a cafe spot at Bonnaroo. If you go to the Black keys concert, don't miss these guys.
^^ Yeah. I just got that record a few days ago when I noticed that they were opening for the Key in DC. I'm gonna see em twice so I am hoping the show is good. The album is killer.
There's no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard. No song that I could sing. But I can try for your heart Our dreams, and they are made out of real things Like a, shoebox of photographs With sepiatone loving Love is the answer
