oh man I love Citizen Cope too! Been jammin to him all day as a matter of fact.. but yeah, i searched around the net and couldn't find much aout his age.. I would say late 20's or probably early 30's.. I could be wrong though lol.
But damn, his voice is amazing.. i just can't believe he's going to be at Rado but no Roo.. that makes me sad
This was the second time I saw him and this show was a lot better than the last one. The crowd was really into it, which probably helped quite a bit. I really like the reggae version of Karma Police. Pretty good. My girlfriend and I were arguing about how old is. I was guessing mid to late 30s, and she was saying late 20s/early 30s. Just curious which one of us was right.
I'm going to see him on Monday, I am very very excited as it will be my first time to catch him live. Then a few days later, it's back to the NOLA for 311 day. Woo
I first saw Citizen Cope @ Roo 2005. A cut off of "The Clarence Greenwood Project" made the 2005 Roo compilations CD. I have seen him a couple of times since. He was just in Louisville a week or so back, but I missed him due to work (or some other trivial NON-event). I view him kinda like the Grand Canyon....yeah it's just a big hole in the ground but you really shouldn't die without checking it out. If you like his work you'll appreciate the show.

UGH!
citizen cope was SUCH a letdown!!!! we got there around 9:30 and he'd started at 9!! then, we were just starting to get into it, and he's done by 10:30!!!! WTF?! i just stood there staring, expecting him to come back out. but everyone around me was cheering as if it was the best thing they'd ever seen. i was shocked as hell.
i asked a few people around me if i was the only one who was weirded out that this was over so soon, and they said he's notorious for short shows. apparently at the houston show he only played 10 songs, and that last night was considered LONG for him.
and it felt really mtv/commercial. i felt like everyone around me was at their first concert or something because they were all so excited. i mean, he sounded good, but its not like there was anything to write home about.
in any case, i was PISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSED. i will NEVER buy a ticket to one of his shows again...ever. why start your show at 9 if you know its short?! at least start at 10 and be done near midnight...geez!!!!

hmm I've seen him here in NY 2 times and i didnt feel like his shows were SUPER short, but I did feel like the audience was very young and strange..so I can kinda see where your coming from. Sorry you had such a crappy time
wow im sorry you didnt have a good time. I hope the Langerado show has a different feel to it. His set is an hour and a half so he definitly should fill the whole slot. and i know the vibe will be WAY different so im crossing my fingers his set isnt a letdown

well he didn't sound bad...that wasn't it at all. i was really getting into it during what ended up being the encore. and an hour and a half is fine for a festival slot, but when i paid $30 for your ticket, i don't expect you to start at 9 and be done before 11.
and i'm sure the crowd will be MUCH cooler at Rado. i can't remember the last show i'd been to in austin where there were so many alligators on shirts.
well at least he sounded good. he probably noticed the alligators on shirts too and couldnt take it anymore and ended early lol. i just hope he catches our good vibes and puts on a sick show

i'm sure rado is a whole other vibe. if his set is only an hour and a half, i'm sure he'll rock it. i don't mean to get you down about it, i was just pissed that i paid $30 for such a short show.
lol dont worry you didnt ...but your right some bands get more mainstream/commercial/mtv/highschool type attention than others making it very annoying to deal with the crowd. for example i used to see matisyahu frequently but will never pay for any of his shows again due to the same reason. but thats how things work these days so whatever i just try to catch them at festies
Just got back from the Citizen Cope show at HOB in New Orleans. It was awesome. We had the same problems you had, hippienaustin, being that the show was scheduled to start at 8:15, it actually started at about 8:45. Then he went off about 9:50, came back on about 9:55, then played 3 acoustic songs by himself, then the rest of the band came back out and played I think 2 more songs after that. So all in all, about an hour and 20 minutes, maybe. It was all over by 10:30, no doubt. Nonetheless, I had a great time, and thought the show was great. The sound was spot on, but it always is at HOB, it's a great venue. This gets me super stoked to go back there to see The Mars Volta in April, should be a blast. Sorry it didn't go so well for you and your Citizen Cope experience, hippienaustin.

i just don't understand starting a show you know is short before 10pm. there weren't even any openers. i was not disappointed in him as far as sound and quality of performance...just length.
hopefully i'll be headed to rothbury, and i can enjoy him more, and with a cooler crowd.
Ah, I was excited to hear about your experience, hippie. I really wanted tickets for that show, but had just spent 40 on ghostland the night before, so funds wouldn't allow it. Sorry about your time though. Better luck next time, since there's always great shows around here
